Magic Keyboard for iPad Review: "to buy... or not?"

What are your thoughts on the Magic Keyboard for iPad, do you think it's worth it?

The durability is in question and how tough the hinge is might be an issue, but as for everyday use it's a good buy. You can carry the iPad which is lighter than a laptop, and use the internet function on the iPhone. My carrier has a plan called unlimited, and I pay 10 dollars more for unlimited use.

Thanks so much for the review- I could've written this myself though not quite as well and succinctly. I think the only thing that is missing from a MacBook Air would be the ability to use the Apple Pencil and that is why I went for the iPad Air – but it's very heavy, almost the same weight as my iPad Pro 12.9 inch!

I have been using the keyboard and its been a blessing. I like the click of the keys and the small track pad doesn’t bother me at all. Only time I really noticed was when it scrolling a long long article but other than that i dont need to be scrolling for a long time because the screen is touch screen. And for that reason i can still use the iPad as an iPad but have the ability to have a good keyboard. I just snap it in and its all good for me

Can you fold it all the way back like the other keyboard

I've got a regular keyboard off of Amazon, and believe it does the job. I'll see later if it is needed.

I agree. Even on my iPad Mini 6 I use primarily handheld but if I will take a tad more I use my stand alone Apple Magic2 Keyboard / mouse w/ iPad stand. But I lkle the case of dor travel on the 2021 iPad Pro 11

Is the Magic Keyboard a good case? Does it protect the pencil? It seems not at a glance.

does it work with ipad air 4th gen?

If you havent got a macbook (or you have a big macbook) it might be worth it for ad-hoc on the move work, but otherwise it makes your slim lovely light ipad a heavy tablet. The cost is far too high as well, I have the first keyboard folio and hardly ever use it (in fact right now I dont even know where it is :))

Perfect opinion thanks for the honesty and the points you bring up confirm my hesitation maybe at a lower price point it would be a nice option, but for something my iPad would spend little time in seems a bit much

hi Dion, Very well described. I needed a new laptop and ultimately decided for the MacBook Air M1. I am very happy with it. A friend of mine bought the iPad, but I am glad I did not. It is still very expensive.

The iPad Pro 12.9 inch Magic Keyboard is on sale for $249, if that worth it?

Can I put any kind of light cover/skin/case to protect the iPad air while using it? Or it has to be without any type of case to use as a keyboard?

I would switch to iPadOS from MacOS if they updated the magic keyboard to have normal computer function keys (volume, esc screenshot), adding HDMI and Data passthrough on the USB-C Port. Then is could truly become a laptop replacement.

Every single keyboard out there for the iPad has flaws, this one included. The Brydge Max+ has a finicky trackpad, the Logitech Combo Touch is unusable on the lap because of the depth it requires, and the Magic Keyboard has no function keys or pencil holder. Products from ESR, Zagg and others are just the same. The only question is, which flaw are you willing to live with?

I agree with Annette, although I have never tried the Apple Magic Keyboard, I have used the Logitech folio keyboard and have been very pleased with it. The only thing that has happened is the magnets broke, however Logitech customer service is very good and as they come with a 2 year warranty they replaced it straight away.

I just hate that the MacBook isn't touchscreen. I really prefer touchscreen, and do an iPad+Keyboard combo because unfortunately that's the only choice Apple allows for a touchscreen/laptop experience.

How is it on your lap? I've been wanting a sturdy keyboard to use while on the couch or in bed....

As a psychology student and macbook air user, I can say this is totally worth it.

I feel my iPad Air 5 Gen is way more comfortable for long periods of reading and visual note taking. I use the keyboard to finish my assignments on the go and everywhere.

slanted screens make me dizzy while reading. how does this keyboard work if you want to keep the ipad at a 90 degree angle?
