Spells better in endgame also imo. If you have a set of shaman stone, spell twister, soul eater, and soul catcher you can basically use spells the entire fight as long as you keep putting up offensive pressure with your nail and regain soul. Which is easy to do because you can get a nail hit or two in with ddive while invincible and have enough soul ready for another ddive to do the same thing over and over

I always feel like hk is less about knowing which ability to use the most, and more about knowing how to use as much of your arsenal as possible. Obviously you can build around using specific tools, but even if you try to only use spells you’ll run out of soul.

Listen, usually using a spell gets me hit. I’ve always been an up close and personal guy, even in other games. Personally I think it comes down to preference.

Even as someone who is experienced with the game I still mostly use nail as I've never had any problems with it so I don't feel the need to switch to using spells most of the time unless if I want some extra damage in the AR fight. I do think spells are very useful for people struggling with a boss when they're exclusively using nail. Especially with AR.

to cast a spell u need to hit an enemy at least 3 times, unless you got soul eater but WHO TF USES SOUL EATER and you also got to heal so if you play defensive like me and try to conserve as much soul as possible to heal than using spell isn't something you do every single time, also if you miss a spell like the idiot i am it's kinda like over or smth, normaly i only spam spells if i'm very low without any opportunity to heal, if i'm full hp and full soul or if i'm very close to the end of the fight and i just wanna get over with it, so basicly, nail is better but if you use both you are an absolute unit, (unless you use soul eater with that u can cast a spell every single nail hit) also spells stop you in the air wich can result on being hitwich is kinda bas also who tf uses steady body

I know this video is from 2 years ago, but another thing to consider would be focus. First time players would use it a lot, and would want to save soul for casting it.

The problem is that the game gives you no real indicator of how much damage each attack deals, so nobody realizes that attacks are fucking broken

Nail. You can spam nail. 5 hits with pure does 100. 5 hits aint alot. nkg has 1500 abbys shriek WITH ALL HITS does like 160 or smth i forgor so it takes like only 10 hits. Also u cant spam spells, and to use, u need soul, and 4 is the maximum, and need time for the soul to gather up. Also nail gives soul.

Plus, the nail makes a really satisfying smacking sound
