The ocean crossings for me are the most enjoyable aspect of the various sailing channels I watch. Never grow tired of witnessing the power of the sea and the challenges faced by the crews, even the 'mundane' day to day existence. Almost mesmerizing as the continuous waves roll by and your recording is up there with the very best. Don't doubt it is hard work sailing upwind but do appreciate your competence and experience. Very much looking forward to following along as the adventure continues - well done!!!!🤗

Matt and Amy, I picked up on your wonderful adventure as you approached the coast of Africa. I have been hooked ever since. You are both wonderful role models for mankind. Thank you for sharing and congratulations for taking us all with you.

You might be able to donate the 125 watt panels to some Islanders and replace them with four 100 watt stubby fat solar panels. 12 volt car camping chest freezers are now very cheap and watt sipping. Keep them in ECO mode for longer appliance life. Too many solar installs are falling for batteries in parallel. Separate chargers into separate batteries into separate loads would fix that ailment.

Based on your wooden dinghy I built my 10 ft. Spindrift here in Brazil. It sails amazing.

Good luck on your passage back to Blighty, but we’re wondering why you didn’t explore more of the US and the inland waterways for some time before making the crossing? Understand your reasons for using the weather window this year, but would it not have been possible to have stayed a few months/year?

Hey guys. You shouldn't use grease on the pawls for the exact reason you had a problem of gumming. Best practice is to use a water resistant gear oil like Harkin pawl oil.

We're experiencing a normal crap British summer. Nothing at all to do with climate change. These meteorologists struggle to forecast tomorrow's weather with any accuracy.

I take my hat of to people who sail yachts. Why be on a 45 slant all day and night. When U can sail a cat. And way safer for reefs. Extra room. More safety for walking around. And a nice flat ride and sleep. But good video

You've brought me "back" to my sailing dreams.
My little fleet is still in the back yard, but I've had wonderful, vicarious voyages!

Great video. You really captured the highs and lows of that passage. No sleep and exhausted bodies! The filming of the sea state really showed how big the waves got and how sloppy it can be. I never seem to be able to capture that.

Ah, sailing, that swap between "this is the worst" and "this is the best" are so weather dependent.

I would think that "solar" tech has moved on significantly since those were installed. So maybe the same size will give yu twice as much now-fingers crossed 🤞

Another great video. Having done offshore sailing I know and have experienced those first three days after being in calm waters for a while but really great once it's past. Is that your original drone, I would imagine you have had some near misses get it back on board. You must be nearly home by now or back. What a great feeling of achievement.
