Sadly, he could only manage 1 place in his next 7 races and died away from the track in May.

It's always concerning when you see a horse has died "at home" after a number of poor runs and can't find any online tributes from connections.

Why 1000/1? Whoever posted them live odds probably was fired and shot. It was 4 horses clear and the top 3 were all front runners in a distant race. I wouldn't have thought the 1000/1 would've won, but definitely could see dropping 10 bucks on it to get a $10,000+ payday.

FYI: The horse went off at 7-1. It hit 1000-1 in the INPLAY market because it looked dead and buried.

I hate seeing them getting whipped. You can see they are tired. Not going like in the beginning. You need to know your horse. They usually give it everything they’ve got and adding whip often accomplished nothing but makes you look like a rube

Wow, what a clickbaitey title lol. In case people aren't aware, the winning horse's starting price (SP) was 7/1 so it had a fair (but not amazing) chance of winning at the start. For comparison, the longest SP was 125/1 and that horse got pulled up before 4 out (because it's a donkey). The 1000/1 in-running odds would have been some (maybe just 1/2) people betting/laying whilst the race was in-play and after they had seen this horse being ridden and outpaced at 4 fences out. It was actually a dumbass bet to lay IMO because it's not that rare seeing long races like 2m7f produce results like this where sheer willpower and stamina can nip leaders on the line. But it got ATR 400k views so meh lol.

I love the horses. They are so hard working and courageous. However I believe they are shipped off to Belgium after they end their careers unless they are winners and go to stud. In Belgium they eat horse meat. When I learned that it put me off horse racing.
