i like the pinute because I'm from Mindanao
ОтветитьGinunting. There is no other blade, haha. Jk. It is my #1 most loved blade though.
ОтветитьI like the Barong. My first introduction to FMA was back in 2013, by Guru Johnny Montecalvo. He practiced Bahad Zu’bu under Yuli Romo. The very first day, he put a Barong in my hand, and I guess it kinda stuck with me. Lol
Ответить1. barong (most experience with, using as a tool...etc) however I DO NOT like the lack of hand guard on them.
2. pinute
3. ginunting (it's actually my favorite in my collection, but usage I prefer barong or pinute, sharpening blades with inward slope is a pain to preserve the shape)
The thing that always got me, is if I don't think about it, and the blades clack, the ginuting or kukri, will bring the other blade down onto your hand due to the curve, I have to tilt the tip back a little, when I feel a clacking, to avoid that. But that's in cases where you throw a #1 against their #1, roof block that's not an issue
Is Kali a unique style?
ОтветитьI prefer training with my butterfly knifes cause my ceiling is quiet low and has already a big hole in it xD
ОтветитьSIMPLY THE BEST ON THE PLANET, PERIOD!
ОтветитьKali is very interesting and although it is a capable fighting technique most martial arts is used for exercise, fitness and health, and also mental thought. Kali does extremely well in this regard.
ОтветитьTalibung
ОтветитьHow long is that Talibung?
ОтветитьOne day i'll get me a quality talibung. That's my favorite.
ОтветитьLuzon - Dahong Palay, Binacuco
Visayas - Ginunting, Talibong, Sansibar
Mindanao - Kampilan, Kris and Panabas
Ginunting. If it’s the choice of military then it’s good enough for me. Love the flow of this weapon.
ОтветитьThanks Guru 😊 🙏
ОтветитьGood to now this !
ОтветитьI like kris wavy blades. It's unique and look devastating.
ОтветитьI got a few machetes from the Sears in 1996. I never made mistakes with the sticks. Get some skill so people stop running over you flat like a steamroller.
ОтветитьKris of the muslims of Mindanao are very good for quick striking....
ОтветитьWould you classify the kampilan as being a form of bolo or longsword?
ОтветитьKampilan
ОтветитьI prefet the ginunting, but the best is what you have.
ОтветитьGinunting is the best...from Negros Island, Phippines...thank you Paul
ОтветитьIt's really a solid point that the training and form will allow a trained practitioner to use just about any bladed weapon. Thanks.

ОтветитьI think i like the most the "Garab bolo" paired with the " Garab knife "
ОтветитьKopis for me~ I know it's not Filipino in origin but, it works for me in FMA.
ОтветитьWhat about Double edged swords? Like the keris? Can you do the same drills with a Double edged?
ОтветитьOn pronouncing the names, a Barong pronounced as a [b'-RONG] is actually a formal Filipino woven textile shirt worn untucked for formal occasions like weddings and business meetings. For a knife, you should pronounce it as a [BAH-rong], with emphasis on the first syllable.
ОтветитьPinuti for sure.
Real swords have curves!
I train doce pares and seeing those two handed styles was really unique. We don't have many movements like that in multi-style.
ОтветитьIm filipino and i loved kampilan
Ответитьmy favorite is inuwas tari and ginunting
ОтветитьCurious as to how a Kampilan would work.
Ответитьyeah right... play with your Tally-Bong man child!
ОтветитьCan you use a katana in Kali?
ОтветитьWhat I have that’s what I use.
ОтветитьHi Kali center. A have one question. For practice blades do you recommend steel or aluminum?
ОтветитьWhat is a good source for finding poly versions of these weapons? I would love to sparr with them but would prefer poly for partners safety.
ОтветитьThe Talibung, 💯%!
ОтветитьCool
ОтветитьI guess the only factor that'll differ in use is the weight.
I do know there are "throwing" techniques from visayas that's used in fighting with heavier blades. Plus there's bound to be techniques and concepts that you can't really properly use like abaniko since the momentum is too great to effectively switch the blade's direction
Honestly I love Bolos and the Kambantuli!!!
ОтветитьWhat about the double-edged war golok?
ОтветитьGinunting for me. Im used to it and the forward curve looks so menacing.
ОтветитьMy question is, where can I find and purchase one? Ren faire is coming up and being that Kali is my main weapon focused style, I gotta have a Kali style blade.
I've looked around and nothing comes close. The faire itself def won't have em
we used the ginunting way back then
ОтветитьOne mind, any weapon.
ОтветитьGinunting for me. Enjoying every flow :)
Ответитьjust use a machete
Ответитьyou should be able to adapt to any machete , wakisashi, viking sword if you are doing it right.
Ответить
