I hate Razer but I've been looking for a keypad with analog controls, either in the stick or keys, and this product claims the keys do it. Not convinced but I might give it a shot.

So I understand the actuation points, but what about the release points like the Wooting keyboard's magnetic switches? Does this have the same capability to release the key as soon as it starts to travel upward?

They've lost me with the aggressive Synapse software. If I pay for a product I want to use it without a continuously running software. The older multibutton keyboards and mice could handle a simple on-board memory...

Can they make one of these with an actual fucking analog stick finally? I'm suck of everything having 8 way clicks instead of true analog. It's literally all I fucking want, without spending 450$ plus on an old Logitech g13 with membrane switches and a tiny analog surface. But hey, it has a real analog stick and there's a reason it sells for so much now. Just can't believe the only option we fucking have in 2023 is a shitty hori pad where the analog only works on controller mode, amd has a octagon ring around it ruining the feel while being a cheap pile of junk, or an azeron cyborg with a fantastic analog stick but it's 200+ dollars and has the weird flaps for buttons and I hate them. Seriously, I just fuckin want the tartarus pro with a real analog stick. That's it. That's all they gotta do, and I'll gladly throw money at them.

The one thing thats a no go for me is while there is a dedicated space bar key for thumb there is no crouch key for thumb. I do kinda want one for overwatch but I crouch spam alot and usually have it on my alt key.

The thing I like is I can move a lot of functions and modifiers to my thumb. It's way more comfortable and intuitive than trying to use my pinkie in MOBA's and MMO's. My ONLY complaint is not having a hot swappable mechanical switch option.

I had it but in my opinion doesn't worth the price for it. At 70$ is ok. But more is just waste of money. And for gaming is not good. Especially for fps games. Video editing and strategy games is ok, maybe some rdr2 gta would work also. But the rest... Nope

would love to have heard how the keys sound , been trying to find a test of it everywhere but even razer themselves don't really state what switches are in it - all they say is that it's an analog optical switch . does this mean they're the red linear ones ? or some other type of optical switches ?

I've been using this thing for a couple of months and I can tell you that it's not just overrated, it's just a very "controversial" product.
"Analog" buttons or "dual actuation" - just forget it. It's a non-functional feature. You will never be able to use the dual actuation in reality, there is too little difference between a full press and an incomplete press.
But it's a small thing.

The main thing is the disgusting ergonomics. It is simply a failure. All the buttons are tactilely the same, and the size is also the same. And so is the material. You just don't distinguish them tactilely. Because of this, there will be constant confusion and miss to wrong buttons.
You lack top line of button (functional) and you At least the Esc is needed, but it's missing
But even to the top row of those that are (digital buttons) - very uncomfortable to reach, you have a long time to get used to.

The wrist rest is supposedly adjustable. Yes, this is true, and both positions are uncomfortable for my average hand. And that's what half of the reviews write, too.

So, it's uncomfortable, takes a long time to get used to, and will still get a lot of misses since all the buttons are haptically the same, and there are no important buttons - no escape, no Ctrl. "Space bar" is extremely uncomfortable to press. And yes, the cherry on the cake - they saved two dollars by removing the memory of the device. It's just shameful, it's outrageous. A gaming device for that kind of money without its memory - even cheap $20 mice have their own chip but not this crap. You always have to keep razer software in the autoload to keep the device working.

Tartarus would just be absolutely useless garbage if it wasn't for the ability to reassign the crossbar (like any other keys) however you want. The software is really powerful and allows, it seems, everything imaginable. I reassigned the crossbar to the mouse clicks and the spacebar I wanted, and made the original "spacebar" an escape. I also found a keycap from an old razer keyboard that fits the size and has a different texture to tactilely distinguish at least one other key. The beauty of the device is broken, but in this mode the device can be somehow used after getting used to it.

Justifying razer - there are very few competitors on the market now. There are Chinese products of incomprehensible quality and with their obvious drawbacks (for example, many of china keypads have blue switch and strange or nothing software), and of the branded things left only razer. That is, there is simply no need for them to try to do better - you do not have much choice anyway.

I don't understand why they don't market this as a productivity machine. The sheer amount of customisation is insane for something like 3D modelling. I returned my steel series aerox 9 which cost £100 for a razer naga wireless and a tartarus v2 pro which together costed £180 and I can't wait for them to come. Might be overkill, but they should cut down modelling time by half at the very least.

I'm a gamer and I'm sure its nice to have, but I don't think I'll ever use it for gaming.

Having both the V2 and the Pro, I can honestly say the Pro is not suited for gaming at all, the two actuation points is a gimmick at best, at least for fast-paced FPS games. The feedback of the analog keys on the Pro is mushy and not at all suited for gaming imho. while the V2 with its membrane switches doesn´t provide the same feedback as mechanical switches, it's still A LOT better than the pro for FPS gaming IMHO. Also, ghosting is an issue with the Pro version, compared to the V2 as well. So for me, the V2 is good for gaming, and the Pro is good as a controller for PS, Premiere, etc.

Here in 2021. Note that Razor STILL doesnt put onboard memory into their devices so you cannot save profiles directly on their hardware. Logitech has been allowing this for quite a while. No idea why Razor doesnt get with the program on this feature.

Absolutely hate their software . Forgets login credentials all the time. Who is going to hack your razor Led controls. Also who the hell wants to log in every time to use stuff that should be readily available to be adjusted. Products owned 5.1 kraken headset and Led Mouse pad . Both of which I can not change options on with out logging in.

A benefit of WASD is that your pink can crouch with L shift and your thumb can jump with Space. With the Tartarus, joystick is controlled with the thumb, so what do you guys remap jump and/or crouch to? I mean, Space can still be jump, but that would mean taking your thumb off the joystick which would be fatal in competitive FPS.

I cannot for the life of me understand why they took the orbweaver, took away a key and put a scroll wheel there. Id love to buy their newer products but I use this button in almost every game. Its the same key as the V on the keyboard, which is used by almost every game i play. Also razer synapse 3 doesnt support the orbweaver, and synapse 2 stopped detecting the razer naga. So I have to either run both synapses, or relearn every game I play without a V key. Be consistant Razer, you have a ton of customers that have gotten used to your products over the years and your changing stuff up on them. Not cool.

I’m analog keys when there’s literally a Hot switch that could be converted to an analog stick which would work a lot better because you only need one finger instead of three to move but you know never mind that

Razer keyboards are built broken with the key spamming issues across the fleet. Synapse is clumsy and inefficient. Try to set a key to Toggle. It'll take 2 macros and requires 2 keys to maybe function. Logitech Gaming Software accomplished this by placing a check in a box and using only a single key. Man, I miss my Logitech G13.
