How To Remove A White Background with Adobe Illustrator

Very helpful. Now trying to figure out if I can save this to a pdf and print on an inkjet transparency with no background.

There is a way to auto this on mono images without having to use a mask.

It's a bit archaic and very tedious for complex images. Image Trace can remove the white unless it's not close to an absolute white.

When I did clipping mask the colour of the cropped image didn't come out for me, only the lines that I did.

I never thought this was possible.

Sadly didn't work for me, tells me I need multiple objects for it to work. I cut out the background on Photoshop but it creates a white background automatically wherever I go with it.

Hey design, im really confused here

I have 2 objects im trying to mask out but for some reason it only clips out 1 of the objects
i penned out both and tried to hold shift and click both of them and the background but it only does 1
any suggestions?

I’ve been using photoshop for 7 years and whenever it came down to using illustrator I’d just cheat my way through with ps somehow because it seemed like such a hassle to learn how to use it... but I’m starting down that road now with this video as the first step.

could you do it differently with Image trace ? when I import my pen drawings I image trace them, usually using black and white logo and using advanced eliminate white? Thanks. I appreciate all of your tutorials, succinct and packed with info. Perfection for learning. I am a stage 4 cancer survivor shut in by Corona virus risk mitigation that gets great joy from pattern design and am new to illustrator- you helped me learn so many of the short cuts and beginner tool use. you have no idea how many hours you have saved me.

My all transparent images have white lines on edges.
