Is Cyberpunk 2077 Worth Playing 2 Years Later?

another option, it might be smart to go back, play the game a bit, see all the districts as they exist then move on, wait for phantom liberty then return again to see what they changed but I also see the merit of going in cold....
I do think the DLC and the free update will add a lt to it, but don;t expect the world....

Bugs were the least of the problems of cyberpunk. The game is not immersive at all. The city is just there to be a beautiful landscape meanwhile you drive to point a to b. Aso is full of generic fetch quests and like you said is a looter shooter with light rpg mechanics

still boring as hell .) i checked back cuz old days i played with it , but its still the same game no new mods no new things like buying houses etc nothing new , some side quests main quests linear and thats it so far ... only difference is the first mission u can choose either u are a street kid or etc how u meet w the first guy thats changing and thats the immersion the game offers nothing fancy to be honest

I enjoyed Cyberpunk immensely and 100% completed it. Though I did play it on PC and ran into very little bugs.
Loved the game and am looking forward to the DLC.

...Assassin's Creed : after several titles back to back, I developed some kind of agoraphobia SOLELY because anything above a trot or the slightest bounce to your step causes the closest people to go "OH!!!!" and behave like gravity just won't allow a jump from ground to chair - impossible, get thee behind me Satan etc etc.

Witcher 3 was originally what killed fallout 4 for me but this game died and brought itself back from the dead before fallout 4 became fun wow

I’m playing for the first time in 2023. Got roughly 12 hours into the game and…. It’s absolutely incredible and addicting. Runs on my Xbox perfectly fine. Super fun looter/shooter. Tons of guns, loot, customization, side quests, great story, great characters, tons of stuff to do. This game is amazing and with each update it’s only getting better. 10/10 would recommend

CORRECTION the game was NOT buggy on "all" platforms from Day #1. On Google Stadia it ran perfectly, from Day #1 onwards.

I'm playing "Lost Judgment" and I'm getting a better open world experience than I had from CP2077.

Dudes this is the best game ever made. Im on my 3rd game through and every time is a totally different experience from the combat point of view which is insane. Concentrate on the builds and fun will never expire

I bought 2077 3 days ago, and after putting in 16 hours and playing 1/2 way through, I deleted the game....

I can not imagine how poor the game was before version 1.5 or whatever it is running now. The weapon system and hacking system is utter confusion with the same gun appearing multiple times and all having different damage per shot rating. Then the hacking system has little to no intro and is just pure confusion during combats. The hacking system is almost like something that was designed parallel to the game and just slapped onto to the game as a package. No coherence. It requires to have a line of sight before you can hack anything, but then you get shot at for poking your head out. The hacking abilities are not affordable for upgrades, let it be currency or street cred if you don't op to do side missions.

The damage system in the game is nothing short of unfair. I have tried and tried, you still get hacked and catch on fire during shoot outs, and enemy will take multiple shots or multiple megs before they actually fall. Regardless if it's aimed at the head and they verify with that "head damage" message. Meanwhile I am hiding behind solid concrete blocks catching on fire from hacking and still getting shot at through the wall. I was inhaling the first aid stuff one after another and still dies hiding behind a concrete wall. Then facing a boss Matilda K whatever it was, the boss doesn't cause anywhere as much damage as normal missions. The way you sustain damage in this game is impossible to understand.

This game is just unplayable. Turned the difficulty all the way down to easy but it's just impossible.

Personally I don't enjoy "seeing the world burn" - I bought the game back then and wanted to enjoy it. But then the bugs started, the crashed happened - and personally I felt tricked by CD PR. When we talk about the original reception of the game, we should never forget that it was CD PR who allowed only their own recordings of the game to be used in the original reviews. And it was CD PR who said that the game was running perfectly fine on PS4 - until people bought the game and found out that that had been a lie. It just sucks to be tricked like that and so I can understand the anger many people felt. So yeah, just bought the game again through a sale and here's hoping that it will now run much smoother on the PS5. Thanks for your honest review either way.

Are the side missions worth anything? I can usually only play a game for like 30 hours before getting bored as I usually feel like I am not moving ahead. This was similar with the Witcher even though I loved the side quests. In the end I was so glad it was over and I could play something else.

I think the reason why people hate this is because of disappointment in their expectations of the cyberpunk genre. we only have a few games that really capture the cyberpunk style and this game's trailer captures it perfectly. I mean, a futuristic city full of neon lights with a hint of a realistic way our future might become is a fun and exciting concept. We want this to be perfect. We hate the gameplay but love the aesthetics. they did well on the aesthetics but failed to provide gameplay that suited that aesthetic. Cyberpunk should feel sad and lonely. Its not a sin to have a fun-action-high-adrenaline mission but the player should also need to feel the sense of irony. the irony of being in a dense population and beautiful city but still lonely and sad that it turned out this way. I do hope that this game will capture that. It did not get shit on that badly as No man sky did but i hope it got shit on just enough for them to work on it even harder.

Yeah, I'm feeling you. I've finished the game twice now, watched three different endings and would love to have a New Game+ for my next run.

The weapons damage is low always pointless to upgrade you are not meant to enjoy it

I’ve ridiculed this game especially on release until the first year because of CDPR’s annoying fanboys and I loved to see how this game flopped.

Recently though I’ve heard some good things about the state of the game so I finally decided to buy and give it a chance. I loved the Witcher 3 so hopefully what they say is true.

I’m playing for the first time right now and it’s great

I'm playing it the second time, chosing different paths and I've got to say it's sometimes inconsistent -- you can go through an entire level withouth a single shooting and yet some side kicks still die.

Going back to the game as a vet is actually a decently different experience (at least in terms of combat) with mods like level scaling and rebalance and that type of thing - with a chunky modlist (now very easy to set up), you can make the game much more challenging than it was at release, and worth another playthrough in that sense.

The Full Game Rebalance was (I thought) by far the best mod for the game, but it peaked before the recent period of tinkering the devs did since 1.5, and the mod author of FGR hasn't updated it (though he seems to be working on it), but meanwhile you can put together a modlist that does in peacemeal form many of the things FGR did (though not all, it really was a masterpiece of a mod that overhauled the game in a satisfying way). There are like 4 or 5 "core" modders consistently modding the game who have done great work in adding gameplay variation too (e.g. netrunner and cyberdeck things, cyberware, interesting time dilation effects, etc.).

And now that modders can add things to the game instead of simply replacing, there's also a huge amount of visual modding going on, clothes, unique player bodies and all that sort of pizzazz, and there's a ton of little immersion tweaks (like being able to pet your cat :) ).

The great disappointment of the game remains: that it wasn't an RPG proper like we were promised. And that still galls a bit, one still feels the disappointment at all that wasted potential (especially given that Night City as it is, in terms of art design and scale, would have been an amazing backdrop to the open world RPG we thought we were going to get). But what the game is - a cinematic action-adventure story experience with some RPG flavouring and good combat - can be a lot of fun in places, and as you say, I'd definitely recommend it to new players as that.

Playing the game again is actually something that I like as there are so many different build to try!

A lot of things i enjoyed from this game. But, one baffling weakness of CP 2077 i found that breaks the game for me, is the enemy AI.

they are too stupid it doesn't make sense. Far incomparable with the AI from the likes of far cry 4, GR wildlands, those were the best i've seen, the ones that made most sense.

i would feel such a loss if i had spent money on it. fortunately i didn't.

In hitman 3 if you carrying weapon in public you are doom.

The last part which u said is completely true. Just Cause 4 with the DLCs is also very good. But the hatred against the game has ruined it's reputation. Earlier Fifa had been crap couple of years but no one complained. Every negative review was dealt with paid positive reviews since EA is a giant. PES went crap one year and it's almost done and dusted. Small cos can't survive the huge negative impact on business and one mistake takes them out of business though they produce master pieces earlier. Thia is very sad.
