The issue is there’s no way to identify it as a piece of the titanic even if it is one. That’s like trying to sell a chip of a greek statue. If the chunk said something like “RMS TITANIC 1909” than it would be worth something, still not 1.2 million though.

1.2 for rusted metal, who cares if it came off the titanic, it's not worth half of 1.2 million, I'd say 2 maybe 3 G's tops.

The violin of one of the passengers and its case sold for 1.7 pounds. A pocket watch from a russian passenger sold for 57k. I think value is determined by what a person is willing to pay. I would much rather have the violin or the pocket watch than this tiny piece of rust. But someone else may want that piece of rust over the other two things. I cant imagine paying that much for that but there may be people who would. Rick didnt want any part of it. I think that guy ahould have accepted that offer. I cant imagine a higher offer being made but who knows. Some billionaire may see the value in it.

For those interested. Google, "Titanic, The Big Piece" Its the largest piece ever brought up (1998) from the Titanic & they chopped off a section of the bottom of it to make it easier to move & display.

So 1.2 m pounds or $1.5 mil seems insane, but crazy rare & the Titanic will continue to disintegrate underwater so they likely wont be pulling up more pieces of the hull.
