Sony WF-1000XM4 review: silence to my ears

How important to you is codec support in a pair of earbuds?

My realme buds 5 pro have multi point and ANC, and they cost 80$. Multipoint is a feature I cannot live without.

After the 2.0.0 firmware update for the WF-1000XM4, my headphones became unusable. I bought it because of the confidence in the brand and the great reviews about the product, but today I see Sony's neglect and I decided never to buy anything from the brand again. Problems do occur, but I'm sad that I didn't buy another brand that respected the consumer. I DO NOT RECOMMEND

Question:
When you listening music or other multimedia, then theres incoming call, after ended the call session.. the playback of music/multimedia why become annoyed like poor quality sound?

At this point my only solution is reconnect the XM4 then all back normal. But this method seems not unusual. Any solution or tips?

Am i the only one feel like the volume is kinda low and don't feel right?? The bass is low ..the music is like in your head not loud...no feel of bass

XM3 were the most disgusting feel and fit I've ever felt

I’m using iPhone, connectivity is fast but I can’t give top vote for noise cancellation. The pods size is big so it can’t fit in my ear properly. We can experience noise cancellation when they fit in our ear properly

I absolutely love mine! I love how it switches from noise cancellation to Ambient noise when I start talking and returns to music after 5 seconds or however long you want it to return to Noise Cancelling/ Music. The sound is up there with my over the head Sony XB-900 and that's saying a lot cause those batboys put out some serious Bass!

Mine must be malfunctioning because noise canceling is not that great. I will keep them.

I am getting Bose and sticking with them.

Can you guys make a video on how to put in the Sony Linkbuds S into your ears properly? Because to me, there just to weird. Like i can put them in, but it seems like i never have confidence if there In perfectly or not. Because theres no reference to know if there in proper or not. Theres bo reference to what angle there supposed to look like when in. I can literally adjust them endlessly and i still dont know which position is the best or not.

Sound quality very good but they are just not loud enough en not enough bass even with the app.

These earbuds are terrible I bought some of the other day I connected them to my phone then I connected to my TV I got another buzzing sound and I took them back to Best Buy and told them what was happening so they gave me a new pair and those sucked too so I ended up buying Samsung Buds2 Pro and they not only sound better they got a better fit their lighter and they are louder Sony really screwed up with these headphones ... Don't believe the hype ...

Beware the "metal ping" sound in the WF-1000XM4s. Research it before pulling the trigger on buying a pair. I got sucked into the $100 off deal thats going on right now. I feel like I got fooled by Sony, even though I just went for a typical holiday deal.

I have two pairs of the sony's, great sound, but both developed a loud squealing sound.

I’m buying them just for the ANC and great sound. Something my Beats Fit Pro do not perform well at.

The included tips are itchy and decompress way too quickly to seat easily. I consistently go all day with silicon tips but their included itch after 5 minutes. Luckily I had a silicon pair that fit well.

Been using the XM2s for over 4 years. Really excited to add these as my main pair. Can’t wait!

I just but them and was very in love with them but when I realized that no “Find My” is not available I’m very disappointed. 😢

Can I charge them with a 45 watt charger?

If you update to Firmware 1.4.2 you will kill your earbuds. I get less than 1 hour from the left earbud after the update and I am out of warranty. Has anyone updated to this version and not had any issues?

Do these sound better than the basic wired earphones of Apple(Earpods)? I'm completely new to bluetooth earphones and today I've bought a pair if Anker Liberty Air 2 Pro for about $100 and am disappointed how underwhelming the sound quality is. To me $20 earpods sound much richer and more exciting. So I wonder if this is a general problem of wireless earphones, or if more expensive products like Sony Wf-1000Xm4 are significantly better sounding. To me, earpods sound perfect, but I just wanted to try out the comfort of wireless technology as well as noise cancelling.

Don't buy the Sony's. Battery life down about 1 hour after 13mo... I purchased a pair of Sony WF XM fours basically the day they came out. I've used them religiously for the past 13 months. I noticed the left earbud which remained in the case longer than the right earbud on most days, was only giving me an hour or so of playback within the last month. I was disappointed but the idea of replacing one earbud was not the end of the world, as my right earbud was still giving me around 5 hours of playback. Within the last week my right earbud has now also gone down to a little over an hour. I don't know about you but headphones that only last an hour or so are basically useless. Ultimately Sony says I'm out of luck since there is only a 12-month warranty and I can pay for new ones or pay to get them repaired. Sony being the only company that I can find willing to repair the headphones. So I paid $21 a month for one year for the pleasure of these headphones. Unless you want to spend more on your headphones then you do on a 24-hour fitness membership, I suggest you look elsewhere.

I hate Sony WF1000XM4, after using it for 1 year the right earbuds battery was draining and now the left earbud started with same issue, and i contacted with Sony service centre where they said the battery is not replaceable but we will replace the left earbud for which you have to pay USD 136 where the price of new set of XM4 is around USD 179, i am done with Sony and never be back to see this brand again.

Please help me here. I have bought these based on this review and I am totally at a loss as to how poor/non-existent the noise cancelling is..... OK so I pair them up to my phone. No problem and I can play music. The sound is OK I'm not an expert and that's not why I bought them anyway. I put them in my ears and open the app. With no music playing I switch between Noise Cancelling / Ambient /Off and there is absolutely zero difference in any of the modes (there is no music playing just ambient sounds from my room). When I say no difference - I mean no difference at all. I hear the buds telling me the mode has changed when I tap but the surrounding noise level does not change at all. I wanted these to eliminate as much as possible ambient noise around me and these buds do absolutely nothing at all. To say I'm disappointed is un understatement. If I am doing something wrong I would love to know what. Thanks in advance.

Bravo for mentioning the ear tips. I am disgusted with sennheiser because to achieve optimum use on momentum ear buds I must pay extra for better tips!

For some people they just don't fit. Personally I could not hear any difference AT ALL between ANC ON and OFF. NONE. ZERO. Gave it to my son to check, he said the ANC was awesome! So there you go. CHECK BEFORE YOU BUY A PAIR.
