ОтветитьI hated this album a year ago. I really listened to it and found similarities to my grandfather's journey here from Mexico in the 1940's. I am growing to love it so much.

ОтветитьComing to this country when I was eleven this song really hits home for me and I'm sure for many immigrants.
ОтветитьI am a procrastinator and finally got around to listening to American Bollywood after being initially moved by The Walk Home. This album is pure beauty. I am deeply moved by this record and can’t wait to experience a live show. I haven’t been so hooked on an album since the 90s. It has helped me on my own personal journey from dark places that are common in people in search of an identity. I am a second generation Canadian from an immigrant family from Poland that escaped during WW2. Despite Canada being known as a mosaic of cultures, assimilation runs rampant. This nation is filled with a lot of people who are suffering from an identity crisis as a result of the immigrant experience. The irony is that the European colonialism process seeked to destroy other cultures identities, but in the end this land is littered with lost souls that struggle to find purpose in this world. This album connected me with my past and my obsession with the future and enabled me to Wale Up and live in the present moment. Thanks for this incredible album. I can’t wait to see your live show sometime.

This album is incredible, it’s unlike anything I’ve heard and the album means so much to my friend who brought me to the concert— I can see why now. ❤️

ОтветитьEs demasiado hermosa esta canción 🤍🐉
ОтветитьBrought tears to my eyes....thank you.
I am Mexican, Native American and White (Swedish and Norwegian roots). I have darker skin who grew up with a White mother, so to say I understand how it feels to be mistreated or misrepresented is an understatement growing up in America. I give all the praise to my family, which has been broken up since i was 2. I learned how to push forward through the bigotry and stress early on as i leaned on both of my parents at different times and my Aunt (my dads side), figuring out how to deal with growing up and being judged as a child for no reason. I really fell into my roots with the help of best friends i gained on the street I called home in Northern California for years that now have been life long brother's (RIP Michael, fuck cancer at 20) and gained solid footing on how to hold my head up high.
Watching this does something to me...like YOU and YOURS fought to be AMERICAN. Fighting for that dream i was already supposed to have! Watching your old home videos makes me think about my son now and how I have to teach him about this life, the good and bad....because as you stated, its not easy to live this life at times. We need each other to become stronger and feel accepted in this world. I don't care what your skin color or origin, if you are here you are my American brother or sister period! 💯 i needed to revisit this song today and just release my emotions.....
As an aspiring Indian-American indie music artist, words cannot express how much this song, this music video, and this band means to me. Growing up in two different cultures, I never saw myself fully represented in either Indian media or American media. It's so hard to find South Asians with careers in Western music, and when you do, oftentimes you get artists who aren't known for putting their ethnic heritage on display due to (completely reasonable) fear of acceptance or alienating their audience. Jay Sean and even Freddie Mercury come to mind as Western artists with South Asian roots who are rarely seen as such. Sameer has always been a huge inspiration to me, and I am so elated to see him honoring his Indian immigrant heritage in this way. That is something I constantly try to do with my music.
Thank you, Sameer, and Young the Giant for bringing such authenticity to your music. I will forever be your fan ❤️
Beautiful song, made me think of all the hard work and sacrifice my parents did to raise me and my sister! Please come to Peru 🇵🇪
Ответить👌It's just perfect 😊
ОтветитьI've missed you YTG. Missed your concert in HNL before the pandemic because I was supposed to go to a Musiq Soulchild concert instead (big mistake). Hope to see you all when you are out on tour again soon 💗💗
ОтветитьЭто очень честная, личная работа. Музыка с колоритом, вкусными этническими мотивами. Большое спасибо ♥️
ОтветитьAmazing
ОтветитьI love this band I discovered them 3 years ago, they sound similar to the band "The Fixx"
ОтветитьFalling in love and obsessing over this band like it's 2010 all over again 💜
ОтветитьThis is the song! While completely detached from reality high on magic mushrooms a few weeks ago, spirit came to me through this song. Young the Giant put together an incredible curated video for it that I am in love with. Probably top five favorite songs of all time, and it has so much special meaning to me. This song had me weeping with joy! That's how much it fucked me up.
