TDA is doing away with the 401K Roth because of this merger, was told it's Schwab's doing.

This is a bad thing. a number of years ago schwab funded a startup by the name of cybertrader. management wise it was separate from schwab and had some great features. then schwab decided to bring them in house and merge it with streetsmart edge. Back then schwab had streetsmart pro as their best online platform. they merged Cybertrader with edge and discontinued pro. the platform became worse. I have been in mergers before in the career. what happens is the bureaucrats of the larger fish swallow the smaller fish. Schwab will, knowingly or unknowingly, smother the creativity of thinkor swim . It isn't about what is best for the client. It is who is the big fish in the merger. It will be a sad day for all of us. I am both a schwab and TOS client. I use schwab for long term stuff. Maybe tastytrade can fill the gap. it was founded by Tom Sosnoff, who founded TOS and sold to TD ameritrade.

Think the CS/TDAMERITRADE merger will encounter anti-monopoly laws resistance??

Schwabs platform is more fundamentals, Thinkorswim is more technical if they do merge and merge the platforms together I do think it will be the best. That is a toss up idea imo but I prefer StreetSmartEdge over TOS for sure.

The less brokerage competitors = the less choices for the traders => bad

I hate this honestly. This kills competition. I think I'd look into Anti-trust violations. If this happens, I'm most likely switching to Interactive Brokers and just shelling out the cash for E-Signal and Trade Ideas.

It will be fine...it’s not like ppl only had TD or CS...you as an individual don’t have to get an account just because it’s the biggest..if so then SC without the buy would already have everyone’s accounts under them.

If Chucky (Charles) takes away my TD Ameritrade platform (online as opposed to ToS, which is of course nice also), I'm going to have to find a new brokerage (switched from Robinhood to TD Ameritrade since I love TD Ameritrade)--may even go back to Robinhood. I have to think TD Ameritrade would be going away in name since it's tied to TD Bank. Hope I'm wrong. I just read that TD Bank owns 43% of TD Ameritrade and would have to approve of the deal. Of course, everything is up in the air.

We know Charles Schwab is the big dog and they will get what they want. By taking out any and all competition means they can and will do whatever they please. They didn't get to where they are by not planning a good strategy. Believe me they have a plan and it has only begun. We will wait and see what TD Ameritrade will do. It is in their court. I hope that this doesn't happen. Healthy competition is essential in this market! It will be interesting to see what develops.

Don’t think the Antitrust division will allow this one. Although with Trump at the top, who knows?

Does that mean I’ll get 3 day trades less if my TD and Schwab accounts are going to be one account?

Right now I have TD, RH, WeBull, and Schwab to get 12 day trades a week under the PDT rule. I don’t have a 25k+ account yet.

Wow! I don't know what to say but you took the words out of my mouth. "Its definitely a monopoly" in my honest opinion. And it will cause a lot of issues that's for sure. It is certain that all of the other brokerage companies could be in trouble in the coming future and should be aware.

I wonder how it will affect my assets in both accounts? I think the next big thing will be someone relaxing or straight up disregarding the pdt rule.
