What tips us off to Dorian’s past is his raised leg stance used to blind a guard. It evokes not only Doppo Orochi’s Tiger Slayer legacy but more importantly the Kaioh legacy behind Shinshinkai

Theory: He used the same technique as sea emperor Kaku when he faked his death.
It's entirely possible he did, because he learned, as he states in his battle against Doppo, many great things in Chinese martial arts, and one of them were most likely a lot of techniques that Sea Emperor Kaku uses.
