I am a HUGE fan of traditional, tribal tattoos, and the Japanese turned their bodies into works of art with their system. Truly beautiful, but the Yakuza gangs have turned tattooing from a spiritual expression into one of being a symbol of being a gang member, which is such a shame. I trained under a Karate Master who had his entire back tattooed with the Hachiman Samurai of legend, and that was truly awesome art, to say the least :-)
