Apple Watch Ultra vs Garmin fenix 7X (6 Months Later...)

A video to become an Apple Watch ambassador. Congratulations. :) In truth, Vo2 on the Apple Watch is really, really really bad. The gap between reality and the watch is generally greater than what you show.

After an intense year of engaging in endurance sports, my Apple Watch Ultra manifested a fault in its heart rate sensor, effectively rendering the device inoperative. It overheats, and the battery depletes rapidly. I brought it to an Apple authorized service center, where the issue was identified during the diagnostic process. I transitioned from a Garmin Fenix 6 Pro Solar, with which I was quite satisfied, to this toy-like watch. I am profoundly regretful of making such a decision.

Really like your videos and this one except for when you glazed over the fact you charge watch twice a day like that is nothing odd. I wish I had that mindset that something like that didn’t matter to me.

You’re the perfect user for the Ultra

Most of your video revolves around the Ultra being able to do 70% of things from your iPhone. As someone who never leaves my iphone away, I’m the opposite - I don’t need another phone that does all the same things. My iPhone is always with me

The Garmin is perfect as it gives me unique stats and health things that the Ultra is simply missing. I use it for strength training and the custom fields for running and other sports do not compare. The Garmin epix pro provides unique functionality and stats, the ultra is just another (redundant) phone on my wrist

I pay 1k bucks for apple watch to subscribe and pay again for fitness app. Though u can buy Garmin and it makes it all out of the box.

Have you ever used your Apple Watch for mapping and navigation? If so how does it compare to Garmin? I’m trying to decide between the two. I currently have a series 6 and I’m looking to upgrade.

I currently have a Garmin fenix 6 Pro Solar and an Apple Watch S9. The most important attraction of Apple Watch is the presence of Apple Pay. This is really what keeps me on the Apple side.

I can’t trust a review from an Apple sheep. You Stress so much about the availability to access Internet and calls etc. from your Apple Watch but you never mentioned that you have to pay for that service. Also would like to know how many times you leave home without your phone which I highly doubt it.

Besides the battery life there is one other major difference. The Garmin is able to broadcast for example HR data over Bluetooth. This makes it possible to pair it to a bike computer so you don't have to wear a HR chest strap. Also, the Garmin can function as a bike computer and will pair with speed, cadance and wattage sensors mounted to a bike. The Apple watch will only communicate directly with your iPhone and Airpods.

All I need is a phone on my wrist. I think Apple Watches are sterile and ugly kind of like a Tesla, maybe asexual. The Garmin is rigged and masculine. I guess if you’re a soyjack urbanite than the Apple Watch is for you.

The Garmin Venu3 will do all the smartwatch functions but won't tank its battery life after half a day.
That said, I'm on team Fenix 7 Pro because i don't like to be reachable all the time 😊

I have both, and the Garmin is definitely more for the elite athlete, that also requires battery life, such as hiking in the Australian outback for a few weeks. However, that said the Apple Watch Ultra is an amazing piece of technology, that provides far better smart features, while also having amazing health tracking features, and being able to leave your phone at home. If the Apple Watch Ultra had a 2 week battery life, Garmin would be in deep doo doo.

I higly doubt apple watch has more accurate heart rate than garmin

the battery is the reason to go for Garmin. imagine you go on adventure with your suv and camping. mountains and much more. what do you want to do with an apple watch?

my imagination is e bike and a suv and traveling many countries. i can do nothing with that fancy apple watch. garmin is much much better.

Wow, very informative video! The video production and editing is like watching a professionally produced piece destined for TV or other professional use. Clearly you put in a huge amount of effort making your videos. I also agree 100% with your conclusions on this one.

The Apple Watch is of no use if you don't have an Apple phone. Why does nobody comments on this important fact? The Garmin watch connects with both IOS and Android, so do a majority of other smart health trackers like Fitbit etc.
I normally stay away from proprietary devices limiting my choices.

I don’t see a point in buying a watch that does all the features of your phone, I would rather have a watch that helps truly keep me undistracted by allowing me to see a notification and weighing whether it’s important or not rather then being distracted trying to respond to a text message with a Jenky system on my wrist when I should be focusing on work or school, and when I’m working out I don’t need the distraction that an Apple Watch provides, and also 22 days vs 8 hours of battery🤷‍♀️

Strava has always been off. I can run with ANY Garmin watch and when I upload it to Strava is cuts the run by .1 - .25 every single time.

I hike 4 times a week with GPS Tracking on my Fenix 7x Sapphire Solar , and i charge 1 time every 8 or 9 days. Its been 7 months and the battery still holds the same . Yes definitely theres some annoying things on Garmin like Garmin Pay , Bulkyness , Less Attractive in Colors , but there should be no comparison to any watch when it comes to Garmin Fenix 7x. Only a Garmin can beat a Garmin.

I have one major problem with this guy. I consider myself a pretty good bs detector. Probably my time studying psych at Berkeley. But his “favorites” never seem to be genuine favorites. I typically detect a lot of questionable mannerisms that align with lies. Like a previous video you did and you’re “favorite” watch faces. And again this time your “favorite” apps. Then again, I researched your shill apps, and they’re all new. Usually in the hundreds of downloads. Like cmon…. Your favorites? Your just building content around kickbacks at this point.

Thanks for this video, it seems that Garmin is the right choice if you are a professional or enthusiast athlete who needs a specific feature, otherwise the Apple Watch Ultra is overall better and suitable due to the graphic interface and smart features

I notice that literally right before a race my earbuds or Spotify or the watch OS on my ULTRA literally stops working like bad Karma and starts working again after I don't need it any more. Happens with older versions of the OS and models of watch. Marathons, Triathlons and 7 mile runs. It just fails. Every time.

In reality I never use any apple watch functions as said in this vid. I am not gonna hold up my arm and swipe on that small screen to control the tv when i have a remote. Everything else can also be done on the phone why more comfortably ,without focusing on the tiny watch display. A lot of features that sounds like it is a convenient but might be just for show.

Well this was the most bias review i have ever seen. He forgot to mention the apple watch uses PWM which gives about 50% of the people on the planet eye strain and migraines i seriously don't know why people play down the PWM problems with these stupid OLED screens. I reakon apple would of lost millions from using these terrible Oled screens.

Honestly, I feel like my Apple Watch last me all day. I charge it at night. I don’t play too much with it during the day though but it’s tracking stuff and I’ll see text messages. My next watch will probably be a Garmin only because I don’t change my technology, unless I really need to, and they’ve kind of been the same for years the Apple watches so next one I don’t any more fitness
