Americans and Australians Trying To Understand A Scottish Accent - The Graham Norton Show

I don't get it, I never have an issue understanding them.

I'm an Australian I understand 100%

I understand every word and I speak American

I’m Northern and Americans and Aussies think I’m Irish or Scottish 😂

This is not entirely out of the realm of possibility because it has happened enough in real life that shows have made skits about it (Catherine Tate among others) but when Kevin said that in the States someone came up to him and told him that for someone Scottish he spoke English very well, did that mean that that person thought people in Scotland spoke 'Scottish?' As in not English? lol

I married a woman from Portsmouth (Po'tsmuff), and after a few years of her haranguing me I could understand Lock Stock and Two Smoking Barrels.

If none of the others weren't able to not really understand what Kevin said, then how come I've managed to do so, being English like my 2nd/3rd language?

PS: I've never lived/been in Scotland.

As a Geordie I could understand perfectly. Love Scottish accents and Bonnie Scotland.

His stand up comedy I need to slow it down to understand,in this show his talking bit slow.

I don't know, I'm American and understood practically everything all of them said. The scottie has a heavy accent but he doesn't speak fast so I didn't struggle.

Maybe it depends on what region of the States one is from. Coming from the East Coast, I can understand it. These two are from middle states.
