Animal crossing and creating that sense of connectedness was something that will never happen again and nintendo profited a lot from that. My fiancé friends who made fun of guys for playing video games and even girl who always trashed video games bought a switch just for that. Same with guys who bullied people for playing games. The switch was a slam dunk and helped push gaming into the mainstream more than it ever was.

By actually making good games and defeating the "best graphics = best game" mentality....Again.

And they did it amidst tough competition from the PS4, Mobile gaming, as well as through the pandemic.

I remembered my GBA/3DS/3DS LITE/HEY WHATTA BOUT XBOX/PS. LOL. Let the Switch be popular: It is cool. It is very entertaining/Very Fun/Very Cool(Ya know popularity) and sometimes oldschool for families like mine or anyone.😂

I got sober right before the world shut down. If I didn't own a nintendo switch during this time I'd in all seriousness prbly be a dead man. After coming back from rehab as sad as it is to say the regular family work routine doesn't cut it at first. I needed a hobby. I had a switch. I can't put into words how much being able to put hours and hours into my first months of early sobriety helped me.

Mario Odyssey came out in the same year as the Switch. Smash Brothers Ultimate comes out a year later. Mario Kart 8 Deluxe, Pokemon games, all first party titles that drew people in. Not forgetting the 3rd Party titles that came along with it.

I liked my wii u even if not many games on it, thoug liked it more games out on it that i liked in later years. Switch came and loved the system. I have ps4 pro but i find myself more on the switch than ps4. My only problem is wish we had more nintendo exclusive first person and 3rd person shooters and more 3d platformers.

Must say it took me a while to actually be interested in the Switch, but I was won over especially with BOTW being on it of course and now it’s easily my favorite console even including the PS5. I love the PS5, but it doesn’t have the versatility of the Switch.
I’d say it’s my favorite console and Nintendo SNAPPED on that one as they are so good at doing. Honestly they’re such a great company, not perfect of course but they consistently offer us some amazing products and games !
It has the big advantage to support both their own Nintendo games AND games from other publisher. It so happens that I can play Zelda, Animal Crossing and some Final Fantasy all on the same console! It’s absolutely great

Honestly despite some sayings, overall the quality the Switch offers is amazing for its portability. I’ve had mine for 3-4 years already ? And I’ve never had an issue with it either

Nintendo is still surviving. I don't really play games that much.but I love the Old School stuff better. Mario and Donkey Kong never fades. Even tho Atari came out before Nes but the Nes still gives birth to to all Consoles Gaming.💯

I actually was hyped for the switch back when it was called the nx in 2015. When I got mine at launch people in public were like what’s that and I was like oh it’s a Nintendo switch lol.

Now it's sitting at over 8 million and soaring.
I own a custom PC with an RTX3090 and I am still glued to the Switch, it's just awesome!

At the time of this being published the Switch had outsold the Xbox One by about 10 million units sold, yet they state Nintendo's market share is less than Microsoft. I'm guessing statistics is not important to CNBC.

Well Nintendo is the best video game company in the world ahead of Sony and Microsoft and well ahead of China's tencent and all the others. Although Google, Facebook, Apple make gaming revenue they don't have a reputation as gaming companies but as big tech. It is a shame that Sega and Atari where not able to stay in the market like Nintendo, Sony and Microsoft did with the major console wars they have. In terms of iconic companies besides Nintendo I would have to say Sega and Atari are also two major gaming companies that deserve historical praise for what they did in the video game industry which is respected by both critics and fans of games.

I love my new 3ds xl exclusive edition but it broke and other stuff and since all the new games are coming to switch that's gonna be my main console for now

Nintendo has no real competitor now, they are just doing their things. Mobile gaming isn't even close, it's way too casual. Sony and microsoft compete with each other in the home console market. Nintendo has their hendheld market.
