This is a good video BUT it's not the current routerboard version. Things are in different places now.
ОтветитьThank you for your job man !
Ответитьhi, can you make pls updated video for a newer version of winbox?
ОтветитьWill is work with the USG to MikroTik?
ОтветитьThis has been a nice video but I cannot seem to take the concepts of this and apply it to a Unifi Security Gateway to MikroTik based site-2-site VPN.
ОтветитьUSG to MikroTik VPN setup please Willie Howe..., another big popular Device ..
ОтветитьWill this work for the udm pro? My servers are going to be moved off site to a data center and I need a way to do a site to site vpn the udm pro has a dynamic ip
ОтветитьYou really make it look very easy! Thank you.
Ответитьwill this work with a default config
Ответитьcan it implement to USG with controller ?
ОтветитьHi, please compare microtik RB4011 vs edgerouter 4, Which one in term of firewall are powerful than the other. Thnx
ОтветитьI have tried to find the future video for the software that you used to create the network diagram. What program is it?
Ответитьhah, funny how easy it was on the Edge Router compared to Mikrotik. I'm currently learning Mikrotik and my reasons are simple: If you master Mikrotik, every other system will be easier to figure out!
Ответитьwhy not setting up static routes on both sides instead of using srcnat?
ОтветитьHello Willi, will it be possible to do VPN Site to Site between a Watchguard and a USG?
ОтветитьHey ! First of all , great video, i was tryng to connect a USG to a Mikrotik, what i did is that i follow this instructions and the one that you connect a USG to a Sonicwall, and eureka ! i got connection wich is great BUT i can ping from USG to Mikrotik, BUT i cant ping from Mikrotik to USG :S and i can't find the way how to do it, can you give me a hand ?

Ответитьthanks for the video i have been watching your videos.. could you please make demo how to use mikrotik as server and eddge router as client with ddns? . i could not find how to make edge router as l2tp client. can you also do a video on config tree?
thanks.
I cant get this to work :(
ОтветитьDoes this work with dynamic dns hostnames? I don't think many would be using static public IPs.
ОтветитьHI Wille. WHAT IS THE SOFTWARE NAME U USED TO create the graph. Thx Willy.
Ответитьhi wile in router what you like o prefer mikrotik or edgerouter
Ответитьnice vid..please video EoIP 2 sites over IPsec thanks...Willie...
ОтветитьAwesome picture
Ответитьthis makes me mourn the lack of this sort of configuration on our own network (friend's roommate won't let us do what we want since he pays for internet on that side). At least you have proven that it works! Will tell my network nemesis what he's missing!
ОтветитьInformative as always Willie, thanks for sharing. I'm interested in the software you used to make the network sketch (which you alluded you would talk about in the future) :-)
ОтветитьBTW could you make a comparison between USG and Edgerouter? I know Chris from Crosstalk solutions did this but it was almost two years ago... BTW great channel! Best regards from Czech republic...
ОтветитьGreat video, thank you!!! I am curently running Mikrotik RB750Gr3 as my main router. I bought USG as well but it does strange things to me like in clients some IPs are not showing and some clients are not reachable via web gui (like mikrotik switch) so I quit using USG. Still considering usign UBNT edgerouter (I have Edgerouter X at home but bever used it as main router because I am kind of maximalist and I do not know if it is powerful enough) :-)
ОтветитьThanks Willie! I have been trying to get the exact same thing happening for the last week so this is VERY timely. Loving your shows!
ОтветитьHey Willie, can you show us how to do site to site VPN using USGs between 2 physical sites where our WAN IP is dynamic and we have no choice but to use the ISP's Fibre Modem/Router combo. So the USGs on both ends are sitting behind the ISP's router.
ОтветитьVPNs are often a pita to config in most vendors hardware. I’ve been a Cisco guy most of my career (25+ yrs) until we started a MSP at work to allow IT to switch from a cost center to a revenue generator. I’ve used both UBNT and Mikrotik for really small clients (especially nonprofits) and made it work but there is nothing that comes close to being as simple to configure as a Meraki VPN. Software Defined Networking’s (SDN) greatest hit in my book. You don’t even need a static IP with Meraki VPNs. I’ve created some hybrid networks with Meraki MX appliances and Unifi switches and APs to give me the best of both worlds when VPNs between multiple sites are a requirement but budgets are small.
I fully understand the arguments against Meraki’s business model but at the end of the day Meraki makes managing networks easier for me and that is important as I can provide better/faster service if the equipment is easier to configure. The other features that I love about Meraki that I haven’t seen anywhere else are the automatic change log and built-in monitoring capabilities. That saves me from finding 3rd party solutions to cover those two requirements and then having to manage those solutions. I never thought I’d like it going in but even the Meraki auto OS upgrades is a huge after hours time saver for me and reduces billable hours for clients.
UBNT has a lot of great solutions and we use them quite often as their cost is so affordable and they are relatively easy to setup. I’m excited to see the cloud management solution for edge devices and I hope they are able to eventually have a mature and feature rich SDN type solution with this service.
There are a lot of vendor solutions out there and everyone has their own opinions as to who offers the best solutions. I just wanted to throw my 2 cents out there. No matter what vendor you like with all the options out there I think it is a great time to be in networking.
I really enjoy your videos Willie. Keep up the good work. You and Crosstalk Solutions are creating UBNT fans everyday with your videos. I’m a visual learner and therefore a huge fan.
Hey Willie, I've been enjoying your videos, so please keep them coming.
I do however think people are going to be shying away from Mikrotik, after this whole slingshot vulnerability thing. I recently upgraded all my network equipment from Mikrotik to Ubiquiti. I had my Mikrotik RB433AH for something like 8 years, and the only reason I ended up changing, was due to a lightning strike taking out my Mikrotik router. Now I'm kind of glad I moved to Ubiquiti, but I have no idea whether my RB433 was compromised. Scary stuff!!!
Man I am. Trying to get rid of all my mikrotik. Don't know why I would want to keep them over edge routers.
ОтветитьI have an Edge Router x SFP and a Mikrotik RB2011U that I am going to try this on. I'll let you know the outcome.
ОтветитьHi Willie can you make video pfsense to edgrouter ipsec vpn...
ОтветитьThanks Willie
I always appreciate your videos.
I'd like to see a Edgerouter or Unifi video on device Queueing like the Mikrotik does. I use this to speed limit the kids connection
