Keystep 37 — Still the King of Affordable Midi Keyboards?!

i love the chord and scale mode. a great way to evolve my keyboard playing. i have 2 61 key controllers but feel like a downgrade is just what i need, to get more room.

Hey Bobeats - Can it make Sequences with real Pianosounds? Every Video i watch about it, it has just synth sounds... Im not that much in electronic music, i would like to have something that helps me getting creative, and would like to record my guitar to songs i created with a controller - is keystep the right controller for me? or should i go with komplete kontrol?

It’s the best midi keyboard I’ve ever used and I own many.

I'm absolutely excited about the combination of the chord mode and scale quantizer. That way one can sketch chord progressions really easily. Like, play D, G, C and you instantly have a 2-5-1 progression with the correct modes (D = dorian, G = mixolydian, C = inonian). I don't know any other keyboard (especially in that price range) which offer this functionality and I think it is highly underrated, so just wanted to spread the word! I was pondering back and forth whether the Keystep 37 has enough additional functionalities to justify the higher price, but that feature alone makes it a no-brainer (for me at least).

Too big for me, the original Arturia Swing or Behringer Keystep is better! Seriously though, I don't mind the smaller keyboards and use the octave up/down to get more range. Obviously if you are a really good player and need the extra length, strumming mode and BPM display, this is a good product!

I just got one of these (factory refurbished on ebay for $150!) and wanted to add one of my favorite functions, the user button for scales and the user mode for chords so you can input your own scales and chords. I'm not a keyboard player by training, but I do play the flute and do know maybe too much music theory for my own good. The user modes allow me to use the instant quantization features while still using things like whole tone scales and other stuff.

Would you recommend this or a Pro? The 4 sequencer tracks on the Pro is extremely tempting, but it also costs quite a bit more.

I use this arturia as my main midi keyboard with Abelton. is there a way to turn the pitch bend off? while i am gigging i hit the touch pitch bend wheel and the voice is all pitched. can you please help and provide feedback if i can turn it off thank you

I'm disappointed from the sequencer, cant make stop sequencer while based on external analog clock ,i tried switch multiple options on MCC (arm to start\change PPQ for clock) .but still there is more bugs on live record or for step recording it doesn't matter. i have the microfreak and i was sure the sequencer is the same and work properly. not the king and not the queen my friend... maybe the yard clown of keyboards🤨

Keybed and velocity response really sucks on this one. and yes I tried all mode settings. I do not reccomend for piano players who wants to get natural dynamics…

King? More like the court jester. I can't stand the thing.

My keystep has a stuck key. I tried everyting. Reboot, Changing midi channel and lots of other things. It's unplayable. Some people say we have to wait for a firmware update to fix stuck nots and nots not playing. I don't use the included USB cable, is that the fix???

Just got mine, i am learning and loving it. Still need to get used to all workflows and options. One tiny thing that they could add via Firmware Update, and would be simple and nice adition is too make the Tap button to blink as you tap on it to give some visual feedback. Otherwise i never know if i am tapping in sync.

I’m really new to synths so sorry for the beginner questions. Can I use this with Presonus to sequence a track with a software synth? Also it can only be polyphonic if the hw it is connected to a paraphonic synth?

Would you recommend the KeyStep 37 or MiniLab3 as a gift for my 10-year old son?

How do you find the keybed on this thing? Specifically the noise? I have the Keylab Essentials 61 and sometimes I feel like I can hear the keybed more than the actual sound I'm playing.
