I love this pschadelic era of The Beatle's career. They were the catalysts of the hippy movement of the late 1960's. Their "acid period" produced their greatest compositions in my opinion...
Also...it was so cool to see the Fab Four relaxing in NATURE next to the Seaside!!!
What a rare occasion to see them "hangin" at the beach...
One cannot imagine how honored the locals were when they saw these World famous artists wandering from one small town to another small town in the Southwest region of rural England...
Do you think they dropped an acid while they road "tripped" on the bus? I think that they probably did...since it was kind of a vacation for the maestros...

LONG LIVE THE BEATLES!!!

THE BEST SONGWRITERS OF THE 20TH CENTURY!!!

Sounded a bit bitter and jealous of the Beatles and their nonchalant attitudes .. cracking me up 😂

As always the music saves the movie. John stated that though the movie flopped, it was the only place to hear/see the video of "I Am The Walrus".

You mean Faul, Paul's replacement was rather callous so soon after the "real" Paul's and Brian's deaths. They were led away from touring because the remaining Beatles, John, George & Ringo refused to tour w/ the Paul replacement Faul.

For the record, Magical Mystery Tour was Paul's project . He is to be commended to try and keep the group together but MMT is one of the worst movies in history. Proof that musicians should stick to what they are good at...music. The only good parts of the film are the musical numbers. The rest is rubbish.

It would have cost a small fortune to tour yellow submarine or magical mystery tour. Those was complete very intricate pieces of work. The amount of musicians alone to reproduce it live back then with out the key board and computer technology we have to day would have been huge and very expensive to say the least not to mention the touring scheduling, transportation and rehearsals had they chose to carry the musicians. It would take at least 3 days to rehearse it with local musicians just to do one show and have it be presented well enough.

The documentary is good.
MMT is a tugid mess, with a totally inexpereinced "director" unable to make anything interesting and even coherent from his artsy pretensions

As much as I adore Neil Innes (RIP) I have to disagree with him. There was never a pulp magazine with the story Death Cab For Cutie; it was an invented title used by the academic Richard Hoggart in his book The Uses Of Literacy, given as an example of the types of fiction read by lovers of pulp.

The whole project was such a diamond in the rough. If there ever was an idea that NEEDED a creative director and a powerful producer handling all logistics, it was this one. Paul’s original idea (a beatles film touring instead of them) was basically Beatles MTV 14 full years before MTV happened.

Alas, nobody was ready for it, and they tried to make it fit in a haphazard BBC “comedy road show” format, a terrible fit.

It could have been better and more trascendental than Sgt Pepper’s.

A bit of a late sixties/early seventies visual mash-up in the intro and yet another 'Beatles' film with no Beatles' music. Very disappointing.
I remember the programme and will be listening to the album rather than watching this travesty.

As dazzling as "Sgt. Pepper's" was - for me, the REAL futuristic LP was "Magical Mystery Tour". The American album - an expanded version of the British EP - was 1967 Pop Psychedelia UNSURPASSED.

A lot of criticism has been hurled at the full Magical Mystery Tour, and if you watch it today, you’ll understand why. Though the music is superb, the film is simply stupid. Paul McCartney’s out of control fantasy folly and self deluding tragedy in which he believed he could show up at the first day of filming with only a vague idea of a plot, and that by tinkering around it would soon form into an award winning and highly profitable piece of product, as he had done at the recording studio. Sadly, this was the beginning of a decades long history of embarrassingly bad films and utter failures notably “Let It Be” and “Give My Regards To Broad Street”.
