In Star Trek they created the Teleporter to cut down the traveling using Shuttle Pod
StarGate does this one better, they get rid of the need for a SHIP!

SG U story was good.

but

it asnt had the smooth character transitions from old to new characters as SG Atlantis had, and it obviously tried to cater to this "lets make very young actors act out their teenage dirtbag problems on screen" stuff, while SG fans were probably 30+ at least. if i wanted to watch kids in trouble, id have had ones myself ;-)

also the art of storytelling changed much - while sg1 and sg-a had complete finished episodes, this was a typical "movie stretched to 20 episodes" stuff.

its the same reason why restarts of startrek - discovery AND pic s1+2 failed. ST:snw and pic s3 and also even lower decks followed the good old "episodic" storytelling where a full story is told within ONE episode - while episodes have a golden thread arching over a season.

also SG-U really had not ONE character to actually like - somehow they were all un-identifyable-with.

while sg-1 and sg-a all had somewhat likeable characters - even rodney meredith mc-kay was somewhat likeable as he thawed up a bit with his gf.
my fav always has been daniel somewhat - as he reappeared in sg-a it was like meeting again an old friend who you havent been seeing for a while. fantastic.

i still want to know what the destiny was up to, but please for gods sake: less teenage drama, more scifi and ancient stuff about the origin of the universe - PLEASE

Watched this series on Sky in the UK many many times, one of my all time favourites, it really is a shame Universe didn't last long, I for one, as a long time stargate fan, really liked the new style of Universe. I would love for it to get rebooted and given it's fair shake. Netflix, if you're reading, ill resubscribe to your service if you do this!

Stargate was my childhood from season 1 to the end of it all loved the series more than anything and still do thanks for reminding me what a great time i had and for the extra information like games and comics that i never knew about and how it started
it's just incredible how detailed and well played by the actors it all was can't fathom any words for how great this was

I don't even think rotten tomatoes existed in 1994, so it's a poor judge of movies from that far back; it's website launched like four years after Stargate released and I doubt it was popular enough for people to care about it's popularity polls and statistics on the latest, and definitely past movies. Today's audience probably don't care much for mid 90s movies at that so the polls are so so.

The animated series isn’t canon to me. 😤 I prefer SG1 over the spin-offs. 🤷🏻‍♀️ Its the first series in the franchise that I watched so, that’s why I have bias towards SG1. I’d love to believe that the Stargate actually exists.

I think the Ori was a terrible Idea for SG1. It should have been another Show.
The worst idea for Atlantis was for Earth to steal the City and fly it to Milkyway depriving the people of Perg their future hope of ever achieving freedom from the Wraith. If there will be a reboot of Stargate Atlantis, it should begin with the humans from Perg infiltrating earth to execute a plan to hijack Atlantis and return it to Pergesus Galaxy where it belongs.

The first season of Destiny was absolute crap and just trying to be Battlestar Galactica instead of being Stargate. That was the absolute biggest problem with the show. BE STARGATE. That's what we want.

Well done survey! I can chart the decline of my interest since SG-1 simply based on the characters and "motion" in the show:
SG-1: Ensemble cast of likeable characters, supporting each other, doing their jobs, traveling all over the place!
Atlantis: wayy too much focus on unlikeablely annoying Rodney, people still supporting each other, getting the job done, but often stuck/trapped in a single place.
Universe: Unlikeable characters, constantly backstabbing each other, pursuing selfish goals rather than mission, and stuck on the same ship the whole time.
Origins:Catherine: Mary Sue one-woman-does-everything, plus her useless male sidekick, yikes/cringe/no.

Once again - With no disrespect to the creators of the original movie. I restate my previous comment here.

It is too bad that entertainment executives do not look at the long term rerun potential, I just watched all 10 SG1 seasons at four episodes per 5 day week and very very sad no more reboots. All the old actors and writers,
producers and staff in all 10 seasons where very good, even the Jack O'neal character replacement is ans was very good. I watched most Stargate Atlantis and the Stargate Universe TV series spin offs when it first aired, they where also good. I visited the Studios with my now long gone artist friend, he really equated the writing and actors production staff as a collective work of true art that inspired hope and faith in the present and future, he said it was like fine literature for the eyes. He once said unto me these executives are like day traders, stock brokers and industrialists, they are only interest in the bottom line not humanity, not the environment and wildlife or even human kind unless they profit from it.

Another sad cancellation was Sanctuary as series that gave hope and inspiration to others.

Another sad development in series production is annual 10 episodes only. This causes one loose track of unless of it unless one is watching reruns a example of this was Game of Thrones and Handmaids Tale both that I and many stopped watching because of short or delayed seasons.

However a reboot of Stargate SG1 would be good spinning back and forth with other Statgate universes! Thanks very much for the video it was heart felt. Message Richard Dean Anderson with all the leads just switch back an forth lead actors can be off doing other stuff in the show where they are in every episode or even off world where they are all in the Pentagon in secret meetings that could make a episode.

I still miss Sanctuary my favourite Scifi show outside Stargate SG1 and as a child Star Trek Original. ALL the actors should be used from the entire Stargate Universe Franchise.

Try also a series by science fiction master C. J. Cherryh: "The Gate of Ivrel," "The Well of Shiuan " (1978,) , "The Fires of Azeroth (1979), and "Exile's Gate," (1988). The series follows a woman warrior wearing mideval metal armor riding through gates that allow her to travel through time and space, trying to close the gates in a desperate mission to keep the gates from collapsing, taking her universe of space and time. She is accompanied by a young yeoman warrior named anye.

Stargate was just so much fun, with a great dose of emotional character development. The push for gritty was a real pity.
I still rewatch SG1 and Atlantis every now and then, it holds up so well.
