How to play your keyboard directly into Ableton

Hi Alex, quick question. Wondering why you used the plug in to the audio interface to connecting a usb port to your computer? I tried that but it didn't work saying there was some issue with the driver. Did you run into that problem as well?

Does anyone know why mine has so much static I’ve tried messing with latency and havent had much luck

Plugging in guitar to focusrite and plugging in the keyboard. same setup. my question is how do I set it up to use with keyboard plugins for keyboard effects to use just like a midi ?

What does it mean when the audio input device says "no input" and is un-clickable? I have my roland fp-30 plugged into my focusrite, my focusrite plugged into my computer... I don't get it.

Just wondering, when it records, does recording midi lose dynamic quality? As for example, if I play a passage, will it sound exactly as I play it on the keyboard or will it sound clunky?

Hey there, so once I have the keyboard connected as a midi channel in Ableton, how do I change the key? I know you can alter the key to match sound waves that have already been recorded in Ableton, but from here, I am unsure how to proceed. Is it possible to ensure my external instrument will match the key of the preexisting song before recording any midi?

I use the PC cable. you just need to download the driver and restart computer. on the keyboard select the PC button then its either PC1 or PC 2. for me its PC 2 and now i can control all my notes.

Hey, great video, I have just got ableton and have a 1/4 inch cable to link my keyboard to an interface. However, does this only allow you to play sounds coming straight from your keyboard or can you use your keyboard as a controller for the in built sounds (rather than using my computer keyboard or mouse to attempt at making tunes) thanks in advance.

I have old midi and usb can i do IT too?

Can I use 3.5mm both side jack cable and then split the one side and insert it to piano and other end to Ableton. Will it work because I have a spliter for 3.5mm jack to bigger one.
