i dont think age helps you understand the lyrics, i think it's death that'll teach you what it means. no one around me has died, ive never expirineced a close death, but im pretty sure ive felt it many times in the past year just from how distant ive become from the feeling of being alive. However, Disturbed ‘s version runs it bloody close! David Draiman takes it to another level! Sometimes when you’re a huge fan of someone it’s hard to see past them. My mum was the big S&G fan and I was raised listening to their music, I know most songs off by heart, but I can see and absolutely appreciate the level Disturbed have taken this too

The song could be interpreted as the big city lights people become mute by living their lives with anonymity in silence to all the other 'ignoring' and not listening people around. Only advertisements like neon writings and posters 'speak' to the people, but graffities too. And by this the silence grows like cancer, seperating the people. Instead they should wake up from their sleepwalking, and respect and interact with the others. Getting them out of their isolation by taking the arms and 'hugging' each other. Do not ignore the people around you, even not in the anonymity of the towns. Keep to hug and interact with living beings as a living being ... live!
Do not let this echo off in your wells of silence, the empty/emotionless hearts. Resonate, react, ... act!
