I appreciate that you noticed, called out, and owned the whole sesame seed head thing, Barry. Otherwise I definitely would have made fun of you here in the comments (with love) :P

"The oven looks more fried than the air fryer" that's because an air fryer is 100% just a small countertop electric convection oven. It has more concentrated convection because of the size, but it is 100% a standard radiant fan oven made to sit on the counter with really good branding/marketing.

It looks yummy. Just fyi, sesame oil is not suited for (deep)frying. Better to add a droplet after frying. It's just gonna burn in the fryer.

Never heard of this before but you've inspired me to make this. We only eat homemade bread. Usually with seeds and whole grain. Lately we've experimented with different herbs... that could be a lovely combo. Greetings from Norway

Never had prawn toast but I've had Gobi toast (vegetarian Indian/Chinese kinda fusion food version - uses cauliflower instead of prawns, otherwise the same bread and sesame seeds).

Make something like this just before you're about to clean your fryer and dump the old oil , a lot of the taste of deep fried takeaway food comes from the oil that's been used many times. I sometimes feel like oil can be too clean when frying stuff and just lack a lot of flavour

Just a comment about grilling in the airfryer, I do grilled cheese on toast as well as toasted melted cheese sandwiches. I actually part-toast the bread first before putting it in the airfryer, otherwise it comes out a bit soggy in the middle.
My favourite prawn toast ever comes from our favourite Chinese in Queensway, Bognor, where they put a lovely thick wedge of prawn filling. It comes out juicy and lush - oh, and they don't 'adulterate' it with onion, ginger or anything else. All you can taste is prawn - and the sesame seed 'crust'. Just divine.

still don't like the temr air fryer and also why the oven test was useless. the air "fryer" is an mini convection oven anyway. there is literally no difference than size.

I used to get Prawn toast from a Chinses but I stop after it just started to make me ill and it just being so oily, I then started getting it from like Asda and that but again I was finding it really Oily even tho I was cooking it in the oven, so i'm thinking it could be the deep frying and maybe something they are putting in it that makes eww for me,
I guess I'm just going to need to make it myself one day to find out if it really just can;t eat the stuff or it how it been cooked and made by other people that i can;t have

Fried food is extremely nutritious, arguably it's excessively so.

It's the dose that makes the poison after all

I love the air fryer and oven versions and it seems you get more of the flavour than you do the deep fried ones. Also ideal for people on diets who love a Chineese

I remember toast toppers. I burnt my lip really badly because it was like molten lava in the middle. I should've waited for it to cool, but could not resist the tempting smell. It stuck to my lip like napalm. I can laugh about it now, but it was flipping painful at the time. Findus Crispy Pancakes were also dangerous for the same reason. Will be trying this in the air fryer, but taking more precautions than my younger self!

Hum. Shrimp toast has fallen out of favor in our area it seems. I haven't had it in over 20 years. 😮
Now i want to make it.
The last time i had it, it was sandwiched between 2 slices of bread and cut into 4 triangles no sesame seeds.
I have all the stuff to actually make this. I might be playing for dinner lol
