My TOP 5 WarCraft 3 Custom Maps + some Honorable Mentions (Wc3 Custom Games)

Legend of dragoon was epic, probably the first "ORPG" ive played on wc3. beat the bosses never came back. You probably heard of Julians orpg? It is another from this time

it's so sad that reforged was a huge fail. the age of great custom maps seems to be over. dota 2 has some success with it, but it's far from the glory days with warcraft 3. going back 20 years would be great. i really miss those times. the golden age of gaming.

Just installed reforged and w3champions, but for some reason I cant find the custom games section like it was back in the day. Am I missing something here?

There were some really advanced maps like battleship crossfire, battle tanks, impossible bosses, undead assault 2, and some french maps that were a delight to play like Zilievgrad (literally sims), "War of the clans" which was like a custom "mafia" or werewolves (you win by getting gold, you can negotiate with players to get more gold, betray to steal gold, cooperate, duel, then the voting town where you vote to eliminate which player or not).

Do not ever forget about Icegliders as well. This is like such a unique game. Hero battle + slider ? Yes.

No LOAP? Oh, man. If you were ever into any multiplayer roleplaying games, you missed out on this one. Life of a Peasant. Was pretty much my introduction to roleplaying, alongside games like Gmod. It was basically a slice of life simulator. You picked a role (job) across a large map, and you just.. roleplayed.

An honorable mention from my time was being a wolf. I kept getting captured by animal control (also players). One day while I was in the pound, the mayor came in and adopted me. Before too long, we were married (no idea what the fuck lol). We went on a crusade against animal control, and every time we caught them out trying to nab someone's pets, we blasted their wagon to bits. She (the mayor) got pushed out of her role for it, so we had a brilliant last stand against the police who'd come to arrest us.

Me: You absolute fool, that's not a Warcraft 3 map, that's an old PS1 Square Enix turn based-- oh, holy shit. Some madman actually made it into a WC3 map.

No, but seriously. It stands the test of time as one of the best RPGs ever. If you liked that custom map, you owe it to yourself to give it a try on an emulator sometime. I don't even like turn based games all that much, although the combat is as good as any of the other big names of the time like Final Fantasy, but the story is so good that it didn't matter to me. I HAD to keep going for the story.

if you like Tower War (TD + PVP) games, i recommend the following maps:

- Forbidden Elements TW
- Massacre TW
- Paladin TW
- Legion TD
- Legion TD is very demanding and its played competitively in some wc3 servers. There's a version on steam called Legion TD 2 as a standalone game but i haven't tried this one.

Footmen frenzy
Any kind of Maul tower defence

Funny that people's lists are so different. Just goes to show how many good maps were around.
