Have Afflatus, bought Vista too. It has a nice sound to it and it's different.

Would you also recommend the Berlin Strings as a romantic Library? I always thought the most romantic sound is achieved by having a large dynamic range and expression.

Hi Christopher, I have another short question. When you mix cinematic studio series (I have recently purchased all their libraries), do you have to pan the instruments? or are they already recorded according to their normal sitting in the orchestra? Much thanks! Bar

Hi Chris, great reviews as usual, I’m currently using Areia for my string section but feel they are a bit harsh and sometimes screechy for emotional style writing. I have to heavily EQ them to get a softer, warmer sound, even when I use the classic setting. I’m quite drawn to CS2 for the purpose of emotional style music. Do you have any thoughts on CS2 and have you ever used this library. Love your work. Kev.

I would like to know your list of libraries. You should make a video where you show a quick demo of your libraries mate ! Nice content keep going.

The best Violin VST imo is Joshua Bell Violin which sounds very real :)

Hi Chris! How good are the first chair sections of Afflatus compared to CSSS?

The true beauty of Afflatus Strings is only revealed when you have a proper arrangement. Listen to their beautiful examples on their page.

I really fell in love with them, but unfortunately they are far too expensive and so I can't afford them

I wrote it before & I'll write it again, Afflatus Romantic Strings really does the Hollywood classic movie trick, the sound I've yearned for so long!

You should try out Con Moto by Performance Samples. It's probably one of my favorite string libraries next to CSS.

Honestly, I'd say that Fluffy Audio's Venice are the most romantic I have ever heard, also sounds very very classical like as a bonus, you should totally check it out! I feel like you'd like Venice

I'm quite happy with the Joshua Bell sound, if you put you midi modifiers at 75% velocity you can get rid of the portamento eagerness and then later in the fine tuning work this out where you want it, also the support at Embertone the company that produces Joshua Bell was always very friendly, anyone else dubbing in Joshua Bell violin or Embertone strings for the solo parts? ( Chris Hein does also sound fantastic) thanks Christopher for this video !

I like Vista best as that very annoying hiss in the upper register of strings is not so pronounced. However, the initial attack on your sample playing seemed a bit harsh. Perhaps these can be eliminated in tweaking the sound. I haven't read from reviewers about the issue of the hiss. Is this the normal sound that strings make or is it in the recording process? If someone could enlighten me, that would be great. I have to turn way down on the articulation to try to get this hiss to a minimum.

thank you very much for the vid!
Question - What is the difference between the normal samples in CSS and the legato patch? (the normal samples also have legato, and the legato patch also have other articulations such as stacatto etc., so I'm a bit confused). - just bought that one, trying to understand it better. thanks in advance!

Thanks for the comparison Christopher. I own the cinematic studio series and I'm thinking about getting Vista. But probably when there is a sale, since I think it's quite expensive for a one-trick pony.

My favorite string patches are from the Chris Heins series. The violin patch has a beautiful solo 1826 old violin that sounds really beautiful. Also love the Romantic cello patch from Chris Heins as well.
