Your regulations are a lot less restrictive on what you can carry in hand luggage than the U.K.’s, no tools of any sort at all are allowed to be carried in hand luggage, everything must go in your hold baggage.

I rewatched this video because I'm heading to Mexico later this year and am getting my gear ready. I thought of one thing you should to take into consideration when dealing with the aftermath of an earthquake: tsunami. The risk of a tsunami shows up several hours to days after an earthquake so using the waterways as an escape route could put you into direct harms way of that.

For a plane crash it has been proven very useful to have something to scrape your brain off the back of the front seat and the walls. Also it will be very useful to have something to grill on the ashes of your body so all the good heat does not get wasted. You can take a kettle of water and when the plane has burned down you will be able to prepare warm meal!

As someone who lived in LA you generally want to avoid the coast because of possible Tsunamis following earthquakes. While uncommon in the region an earthquake of that magnitude that would necessitate a bugout could pose a Tsunami risk. Other than that earthquakes in the area are no big deal at all, happen often and usually go unnoticed. Life goes on. An earthquake that wouldn't pose a tsunami risk likely wouldn't require a bugout situation either.

Just wondering about rappelling on webbing...? From what I've heard prusik knots dont tend to work on it. Also the TSA rule on scissors the blade includes the full metal piece through where your fingers go through- it poorly worded... but its basically head to toes 4". 4" from tip to middle is not what they actually mean.
