Does this have blind spot monitoring? Would that help with the A pillar issue?
ОтветитьWhy is she not wearing her seat belt?
ОтветитьI have a Prius with a rear window wiper. . . . Never use it
Ответить😂 I thought she had him buy her one because she is the boss of him. 😮😢😊
ОтветитьIs the 2 year order thing a joke or is that legitimate?
Also, thank you both for a good review.
Id be interested in the NON charging version
Why not make the A pillar out of transparent aluminum
ОтветитьMy favourite part of this review is the fact that your both pronounce "kilometre" correctly. 😜❤🇨🇦
ОтветитьLooks like a nice car
ОтветитьI love how Andrea just destroys the argument that a base Crown would be better than prime xse. Zero fuel used for short trips changes the entire fuel economy calculation.
ОтветитьPuts EVs to shame, built with practicality in mind, not ideology.
ОтветитьNot enough EV range. We have a Honda Clarity PHEV with 47 miles of EV range. It supports 100% EV most days - but could be better as some of our trips push into the 50+ range. Too bad Honda doesn't make the Clarity PHEV any longer. It's the best car I've ever owned and has everything the Prius Prime has.
ОтветитьAndrea is right on target.
I have been considering trading in my PHEV for a Prius Prime since it has essentially double my EV-only range.
I would be using some gasoline on my long commute each way (I charge at both home and the office) with either car. The weekends, however, would be the big difference.
I see some good savings on money by using EV when I go into town and only burn gas on the way home. With the Prius Prime, I would be able to round-trip on EV only.
For those paying close attention and thought something odd is going on, the office is an additional 40 miles beyond town. So, the workweek roundtrip is 120 miles and the weekend "going into town" roundtrip is 40 miles.
Too cool to ignore.
ОтветитьToyota has killed the Prius, 35 years later. The original Prius was around $25k, got great mileage, could carry a whole lot of stuff and lasted for 10+ years. The new Prius Prime costs $50k, gets better gas mileage, might carry some stuff and you must wait 2+ years to get one. The Prius is a dumb buy. Get a Korean EV if you're cheap or a Tesla 3 for the real thing. I love my Prius but it's like buying something from the past.
ОтветитьToyota hybrids are definitely tough to get. We were just at the Toyota dealership in Richmond to ask about the Toyota Venza. The salesman said they desperately wish they could get them. He said they are not expecting to get any in for the rest of 2023 and 2024. The problem he said is that the majority of the Venzas are going to the US. As a result, they are very tough to get here in Canada.
ОтветитьNice but getting in and out looked painful.
ОтветитьYes, visibility and ease of access to such a low car really disturbs me. Why can auto manufacturers make visibility their top goal. And Andrea, how do you get into this car in your short skirts? The doors appear so tiny. Do you need to be a gymnast to slip into the front seats without hitting your head?
ОтветитьNo thanks, I got a better vehicle. The Honda Accord Hybrid Sport (much more space, 50+ mpg, 600 mile range).
ОтветитьDefinitely a desirable vehicle, and we considered it right up to when we found out that there's no rear wiper. Unexcusable! We don't all live in the south. Talk to anyone in northern climates who drives one of the new BEVs that don't include rear wipers and ask them how they like it. Spoiler alert: They don't. Zero visibility out the back window in inclement winter weather. I don't know how they can tell you with a straight face that the aerodynamics are such that you don't need it.
ОтветитьI've watched over a dozen Prius Prime reviews and yous is the FIRST to describe the backseat as having "plenty of headroom"...and you look so cramped in there too LOL
ОтветитьProbably sucks in deep(ish) snow.
ОтветитьThe gauges were designed for a yoke. Then Toyota got cold feet and put a round steering wheel instead blocking the gauges. I’d prefer the Toyota yoke than this half view of the dashboard
ОтветитьAlmost a Gen 2 Volt, keep it up Toyota, you'll get there someday....
ОтветитьWhen will it be available in the uk ???
Ответить“Turn it up to 11?” “No, turn it up to one from the bass.” 😊
ОтветитьI'd buy the Mitsubishi Outlander PHEV for that price.
ОтветитьThis car fits my requirement perfectly but this car exists in paper not in the dealer lot!
ОтветитьBonus points for the speeding joke!
ОтветитьIt’s such a nice looking car but the A pillars & visibility concerns me. I like the wireless charger though - it’s a space saving slot design.
ОтветитьReally like yours reviews. About the new Prius, the major flaw is that you can't see the end of the front. I'm 6'2" and can Imagime shorter people bumbing other cars while parking. Decided on another new car. Thanks.
ОтветитьAm I the only person that has never heard someone say "KEY-Low-ME-ters"? Nice review, once I got used to hearing key-low-meters.
ОтветитьSexy design of the car 😍
ОтветитьI have a 2014 Prius with a more severe back window and I can honestly say I never use the rear wiper.
ОтветитьHmm, not apples to apples but
Prius Prime XSE for $50k CAD or Lexus NX350H Premium package for $54k CAD?
Performance wise, Prius takes the cake. But the NXH only has a wait time for 2 months (according to my local dealer) whereas Prius Prime will be several months if not years out.
Everyone talks about the savings with the plug in models. Where is everyone getting the electricity for free to charge said battery. I still have to pay for my electricity but would like to know where it's free.
ОтветитьHow tall is the guy making the video?
ОтветитьThe steering wheel/instrument display alignment is a common complaint. Its like they were intending to use a yoke control and then backed out of that decision.
ОтветитьI think a Camry Hybrid makes more sense, it’s a slight premium over the ICE Camry and gets almost the same gas mileage vs. Prius hybrid mode, without the bother of plugging it in. The Prius prime is a $5,500 Cdn/$4,200 US premium, so the payback between the two could be 10 years depending on EV only frequency.
ОтветитьOmg, the joke is right on. We get that in Canada 😆 One of the most gorgeous looking PHEV on the the market by far.
ОтветитьIs it available in that nardo grey or its a wrap?
ОтветитьI don't want the Prius for a drive, I want to ride the blondy 😜
ОтветитьCompare to Hybrid Honda Accord please
ОтветитьWhen I heard Zack say "FWD" the air in the bubble burst- but I think this also comes in AWD too right? I wonder how well it will perform in the winter time up here in the Pacific Northwest as the winters have been becoming quite challenging to drive-in, Oregon to be more exact.
Toyota Engineering went too-cute with that center console display. Did they not forget that there was still a "round" steering wheel, not a "Yoke" that may have an issue for the driver to see the most important things needed when driving a car? Also the "A" pillar- wow what were they thinking about there too? Yikes- Face plant time!
I was considering this vehicle, but I think I may go back to an SUV like the Mazda CX-5 as it doesn't have the stupid CVT transmission and it still has a traditional NA engine with 6 speed automatic with AWD.
That is a really sexy looking sedan. I hate that the styling inhibits sight lines, but otherwise, woooo, what a nice update. I love the idea of solar charging and foregoing the glass on the roof. Down here in SoCal we really do not need anything that gives more light into the car. I see how in a cloudy / cold / rainy / gray area it might be nice, but my sunroof shade is almost always closed. If I were in the market for a sedan I'd strongly consider getting on the waiting list. Too bad I already have and love my 2023 Rav4. Also, my dogs said they are not willing to trade SUV life for a sedan. :) Really sharp looking though, yay Toyota!
ОтветитьGreat review! I am the proud owner of a yellow Prime XSE Premium here in Ontario, for just over a week now. 😎 Fantastic car, light years ahead of my 2014 Prius Plug-in I had before this... Have driven about 500km so far, and the gas needle has barely moved off full (mainly from day 1 when I had to drive it ~100km home from the dealer in HV mode… they forgot to charge it)… 🙄
I am 6’2”, and find the driving position excellent; I have no problem viewing the display and have not found the A/B pillars to be a problem, but will pay closer attention to that.
In terms of wait list, I put a deposit for a Prius Prime in May 2022 at my local dealer anticipating it to be a 2023 new model. Then in May this year, my friend’s dealer had a Yellow Premium coming in for August that was unsold, so I jumped on that and took delivery last week. 😎. Oh, and I also just heard my original vehicle came in this week as well (Blue Premium), which is now going to someone else. Of course, part of the wait with my original order was that the Prime wasn’t even available until May or so this year.
I also have 2 other friends getting Primes in the next 2-3 weeks, so they are certainly coming in, at least in Ontario. 😀. Cheers.
Responded to an online ad, posted on two websites, by a dealer for a Prius Prime SE priced at 34,5k USD (about 2k over MSRP, due to "distributor add-ons"). Once inside the showroom, sales person presents me with a sheet from his sales manager that included a 10k "market adjustment" and 3k in "dealer add-ons" -- boosting the OTD price to over 51k -- then had to the gall to ask "so what can we do to earn your business today?"... as if that was some sort of starting point for negotiations and the ad(s) they published didn't exist. When I called out their published ad, sales person said there were other cars they'd sell to me for MSRP, as if I'd want to buy from a dealer that just pulled an advertising bait and switch. I LOL'd, stood up, and walked out.
Received an email from the same salescritter this afternoon, "concerned" he hadn't heard back from me as if I intimated I'd ever do business with them. I'd rather wait a couple of years for the hype to die down and Toyota stealerships become too thirsty to play such outlandish games. The added benefit will be any design and/or assembly process flaws have been ironed out, and whatever mid-cycle feature refresh/facelift are applied. Until then, I'll be enjoying my 2023 Bolt EUV (a decision made easy largely to your review on this channel) and paying that down early so I can buy an additional car worthy of road-trips -- be it a Prius Prime or something cough*A5cabrio*cough else.
I went to a Toyota dealership and they hardly had any new cars more trucks than anything. Production must be slow 🤔
Ответитьcannot wait to race a Tesla Model 3 Performance?😊
ОтветитьSorry can't afford it. Barely able to pay rent.
Ответить6-7 month 😂🤣😂🤣😂 and market adjustment “take the dealer a wine bottle a week” so he can bend you over😂.
