I love that you call it Dark Mirror because honestly it's more fitting. 😅 I will put the New One on hold now! ❤
ОтветитьThe science is Quantum Night was just.... bad.
ОтветитьI’m gonna check out The Courage Between Stars. Thanks!
ОтветитьYes! I’m always on the lookout for actual space horror! Thank you for the recommendations!
Ответитьfantastic recommendations, Rachel! you know how to get me to spend money 🤗
ОтветитьYes, Dead Silence was such a let down! I'm definitely checking out The Scourge Between Stars! I also placed a hold at my library for Death of a Dancing Queen!
ОтветитьSome great sounding books in this video. 👍
Still have to read American Psycho. The sorta sequel sounds good.
And I love Veronica Mars.
Just added Blind Spots to my TBR, so thanks for that 😁
Haven't read Thomas Mullen yet but own 2 of the 3 Darktown books, and going to get to them sometime soon.
I’m so looking forward to The Scourge Between Stars!
ОтветитьSawyer book remind's me of phillip kerr's 1992 a philosophical investigation writer of dexter tv show borrowed original idea from that also liked american psycho glad I actually read it and didn't pay any mind to people who said how EVIL it was also good you don't watch many films trying to avoid tv now in order to catch up with my reading
ОтветитьAs soon as you started describing Death Of A Dancing Queen I was like Veronica Mars vines! Definitely going to check that one out! “Who’s your Daddy!” 😆
Ответить📚☠️🚀
ОтветитьI was also very let down by Dead Silence. I am looking forward to reading The Scourge Between Stars. Thank you!
ОтветитьSuperb, as always. ٩(◕‿◕。)۶
ОтветитьGonna check out quite a few of these and get Head Cleaner for my husband, he’s huge into movies
Ответить❤
Ответить📚
ОтветитьI read and love American Psycho! Have heard some comments on Lunar Park, but now is in the top position in my TBR list! Thanks!!! Love the channel!
Ответить👨🦯 (you said Dark Spots hehe) ⚖️ 🚪 👪 💃 📼 🌙 Geez Rachel you are just looking so beautiful lately. Stunning even. Really. Idk what's different, but it's working for you! ❤
ОтветитьI have an author recommendation for you! Jim Thompson. He was prolific, so there are plenty of books to choose from! They are set in the 40s/50s. Those I've read weren't about PIs, but they have that feel because there is always some kind of caper happening and/or mystery to solve, and the narrators are unreliable, and dark and messed up things are happening! Like... some really messed up things that you and I both love in a book, if you know what I mean 😉 lol. There is a healthy dose of mysongy involved, but in this context I'm certain you will enjoy it as much as I did!
ОтветитьI definitely want to check out The Scourge Between the Stars (although I think it's pricey for a short little novella)
ОтветитьRobert J Sawyer is excellent. His Neanderthal trilogy was amazing.
ОтветитьTook out Head Cleaner (available at one of my libraries!!) and looking forward to The Scourge Between Stars. Thank you for the recommendations!
ОтветитьI'm glad you enjoyed Scourge Between Stars! It was such a fun read, and I agree it would make for a good movie.
ОтветитьPrivate👁️Investagator🧡

ОтветитьIt's such a difficult sub-genre to get right! I think I have 2-3 books on my tbr📚 which are space horror. And I have seen maybe 3-4 good movies. The scourge between stars is going straight to my tbr📚 So is death of a dancing queen🕵♂️🕵♂️🚀🤖🙂
ОтветитьSo glad you're enjoying Bret Eaton Ellis! If you're interested in reading The Shards, you might want to start with Less Than Zero. They're not technically sequels but there is some links and overall tone is similar. Imperial Bedrooms is the actual sequel to Less Than Zero and well worth a read. Love the channel and your recommendations!!
ОтветитьHello there 😊😊😊😊😊hey 👋
ОтветитьYou had me at Veronica Mars. On the library hold list now.
Ответить🎉📖
ОтветитьI'm so glad you finally read Lunar Park. They had a website back when I read it in 2005. It's brilliant! Once I understood the heartbreak of Bret Easton Ellis, I really appreciated his stuff. Imperial Bedrooms, which is a sequel to Less than Zero, is not as good as Lunar Park but it's still pretty good. It shows that he has looked back at his books and thought more of them. It's always interesting to see authors as they mature and reconsider their previous stances on subjects. I believe Donna Tartt and Bret Easton Ellis attended the same school. Or maybe it was Jay McInerney, I can't remember.
ОтветитьPlanning on checking out Death of a Dancing Queen and Head Cleaner
ОтветитьSo many great recommendations again, thank you! Blind Spots, The Scourge Between the Stars and Death of the Dancing Queen are on my to-read list now <3
ОтветитьLove this!!! 😅I'm doing a Readathon and am looking for genre crossovers
ОтветитьI just finished Hawk Mountain by Conner Habib. This definitely wasn't your typical thriller!! Look it up and see what you think. ✌️😎
ОтветитьDefinitely adding Head Cleaner to my list! Sounds fun.
ОтветитьHave you tried Blake Crouch? It is SF/Thriller combination in a Michael Crichton mold. I really liked Recursion and Dark Matter and am working on reading Upgrade and Run
ОтветитьThe Scourge Between Stars looks good, I love the idea of generational ships.
Ответить🐬
Ответитьspace horror is one of my favorite genres, too! dead silence started out sooo good, and yet i still feel conflicted about that ending/the big reveal. i'm so looking forward to picking up the scourge between the stars ⭐ people keep recommending ghost line (by andrew neil gray) to me as well, but i haven't read it yet. we def need more solid books in this genre!
ОтветитьDark spots or blind spots ?
ОтветитьJust found your channel and am loving it so far! Just curious since it seems like sci fi horror is your bread and butter, have you ever read the "Remembrance of Earth's Past" trilogy by Cixin Liu? It's one of the best Sci Fi series I've ever read, it about humanity being thrown into an existential crisis when they find out an alien race is on its way to earth to take it over since their home world is no longer suitable. Humanity finds out due to the distance of space it will take 400 years for them to reach earth and to make it worse the aliens were able to stifle humanity's technological advancement and humans basically can't do anything but wait and since people realize they can't win society basically crumbles during those 400 years.
I'm obviously just throwing out a very broad stroke but I think you would love it if you haven't read it yet, it's a very slow burn and you have to stick with it but it's very well worth the read!
Fantastic video! 😊
👍 always enjoy your reviews! 😊
Ответитьis that a keffiyeh?
