I have epiphones cause they are low budget Gibson for all intents and purposes. Currently I own their lessons Paul special 2, their sg special and a hummingbird acoustic electric. And as far as quality I see and hear no difference.

I have an Epiphone Wildkat, Indonesian made, which I have modified a lot. GFS minitron pups, new wiring harness, roller bridge, and Grover locking tuners. I also have a $3500 Memphis Custom Shop hollow body Les Paul. I swear that with the exception of the outstanding fret work on the Les Paul, there's not much difference in the workmanship on these guitars. Another Epiphone gem is my CJ 200 acoustic. Every time I play it I can't believe it's a $400 instrument.
If you're looking for a great value in a Strat, find one of the Japanese Fender or Squires from the '80s. I have one, and it's every bit as good as any American model. In fact, I read that in the 1980s, after CBS sold Fender, the US division of the company was very unhappy with the fact that the quality of the Japanese instruments was superior to the US models. Apparently they were being built in the Ibanez factory at that time.

I SWAPPED OUT A SQUIRE TELECASTER WHICH I FOUND AT THE GARBAGE WELL CHEAPER THAN THAT IS NOT AVAILABLE BUT I SWAPPED I OUT FOR A BEAUTIFUL IBANEZ ARTIST 250 BLACK AND THE BEAUTY OF THE GUITAR IS THAT THIS GUITAR IS VERY WELLBUILD IT COULD COMPARE WTH THE YAMAHA SG 2000 FOR IT LOOKS LIKE IT'S BUILD OF ONE PIECE WITH THE SAME SHAPE NECK FLOW INTO THE BODY BUT IT RESEMBLANCE IS VERY MUCH LIKE THE FENDER STARLIGHT ROBBEN FORD SIGNSTURE YOU CAN SEE WHAT DO YOU THINK

I really enjoy your reviews and I echo another person's comment - you appreciate that $800 is a lot of money. I noticed Firefly wasn't included in this listing - am assuming it can't compete with Yamaha or Ibanez. Ditto for Harley Benton instruments. I predominantly play bass but pick up an electric guitar occasionally and look for value instruments. Thanks.
