How to Install a Premium Plugin in WordPress | WP Learning Lab

Although there are a lot of free plugins for WordPress, sometimes you have pay for them. Premium plugins often have many more features than their free counterparts and there will come a time when you need those extra features.

Installing a paid WordPress plugin is a little different than installing WordPress plugin. Once you buy a premium WordPress plugin you will be able to download a ZIP file containing the plugin. This is the file you upload into WordPress.

Before you upload the plugin I recommend that you backup your WordPress files and MySQL database just in case something goes wrong.

To upload the plugin, log into your WordPress site and click on Plugins in the left side menu. Then click on Add New at the top and then click on Upload at the top.

Now you will be presented with a dashed box where you can either drag and drop the ZIP file or click on the Browse button to find the plugin on your computer.

Once the upload starts, your WordPress site will decompress the ZIP file and install the plugin. If everything went well you will be shown a "Plugin successfully installed" message. You can then activate the plugin if you are ready by clicking on Activate.

After the plugin is activated I recommend that you check the website to make sure nothing is broken. If the website is fine you are ready to rock and roll with your new plugin.
