Hi everybody!
To give a little back history on the Pitch Turtle, Playmates came to us in 86 I believe and wanted us to sculpt a turtle based off the comics that would be more child friendly than the comics were.
Steve sculpted Pitch Turtle Don with the orange head band because this was still the time when the turtles all had the same colored head band.
Pitch Turtle Don with the orange head band is the holy grail piece which we have, one of one. Four more were made off the mold of the Don Pitch Turtle and sent to Toy Fair in 87 to show off the potential of the line, these were the Toy Fair Turtles. Those four that were sent to Toy Fair in 87 had different colored headbands which Playmates came up with to tell them apart by.
Also for all you collectors out there, if you see a hardcopy for sale that's white as a piece of paper, that's a copy casting and fake. Copy Casting is when you make a mold off an original hardcopy. There are some people out there that got ahold of a few hardcopies and made molds of them and are ripping people off passing them off as real when they're not. The resin turns that yellow/brown look over decades. If anyone's interested in learning more or have any questions feel free to follow us over on instagram @varnerstudios

I have Gre-Gory and Shogun Godzilla. I have the Imperial Godzilla too. I pretty much found all my grails.
ОтветитьOne of mine is the 'Big O" anime toy line with the megadei Big O, Big Dou, Big Fau and Big Venus.
ОтветитьOur lists are quite similar. Kenner Alien, Gre-Gory Bat, Kraken, Robo Skull, etc. I had a Skull Man as a kid.
I'd add ROM The Space Knight from Parker Bros '79 & Inspector Gadget from Galoob '83.
I have the shogun godzilla but his head lever is broken off. I saw a guy online who 3d prints replacement slip-over levers. Gonna have to do that
I had the Rodan also, but I was 4yrs old and was running with it in front of my old elementary school in Queens new york, ps69, and fell forward with it in my hands. I crushed it and broke it pretty badly. Skinned my knee bad too, still have the scar. It was around 1981.
To this day, when I return to New York, I still walk by that exact spot and remember that day. It impacted me tremendously, lol!
For me it would be Tiamat from D&D. It's strange that I never had it or even saw it as a kid, because I had pretty much all the D&D first wave figures, the Fortress of Fangs, the horses and dragons and most of the 2nd wave like Grimsword and Drex. I'd kill for a boxed one in good condition. Loose, it's not too expensive but that box art is too cool.
ОтветитьWhat's your nationality? It sounds like you have a faint accent.
@edsretrogeekout
Holy grail for me is probably Dino Riders Brontosaurus in box, mainly because it was the most expensive one we could never afford growing up. Second place for me would the Legions of Power, they have to be rare but I loved them!
Ответить1978 bionic Bigfoot
ОтветитьI've had a few of these things in my day Inc the Kenner Alien which my Grandma bought for Christmas, but a kid jumped the fence and stole I out of my backyard...
Also had Blackstar Ice Castle, Basertron 2050,
Civas Battle of the Planets 5 figure set,
Comics Spain Dungeons and Dragons Cartoon figures, Gorzak etc.
I guess for me a modern grail would have to be the Oktober Guard Joe con set produced twice and yet I have none sadly.
Keep up the GREAT work Ed CHEERS!!!
I lost some of my Masters of the Universe toys when we moved as a kid. Now after they re-released them, I am buying as many of them as i can get. Also I never had Transformers growing up, so i buy them all from the 1980's and 1990's
ОтветитьI have a Leonardo bust, one of 1000 made. The first 500 got painted a bronze color. Mine is bronze color and it's in mint condition I've been told that it is the Holy Grail of Ninja Turtle collecting. Along with my number one Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtle comic book first edition
ОтветитьAnything in the Air Raiders toy line.
ОтветитьI had that Godzila. It was badass!
ОтветитьOne of my top holy grails was as a kid I had the Doctor Octopus figure from Spiderman 2 very hard to find and rare indeed but I want that again
ОтветитьEd i just watched a video u had made two years ago regarding the top 10 holy grail toys. One particular toy that i had as a youngster was the Eagle One Transporter from the TV series Space 1999. The Toy was Awesome, it had three characters from the movie that went along with it. I remember the pieces were very delicate and broke easily. That is definitely one toy. I would love to bring back to my collection.
ОтветитьMy holy grail is my SEEED RACER CARS N ACTION FIGURES!
Ответитьanyboby remember captain power
ОтветитьI want a Voltron the one that was plastic and had the figures that went in the lions
ОтветитьThis video's word choice is daunting.
ОтветитьMy holy grail toy would be the Megatron that transforms into a gun.
ОтветитьI had the Shogun Godzilla as a child.
Don't know what happened to it.
Probably got sold in a garage sale. 🙄
Ed I bought unicron because I didn't have a chance when I was a kid
ОтветитьI had the first version of Robo-Skull that came with Red Wolf as pilot.
ОтветитьMy holy grail? I wouldn't call it a holy grail, but more of a rebuild. As a kid I would get a new Turtles figure like all the time. When I was 19 I gave my collection away. I gave it to a kid who didn't have anything. Plus I was 19, I was too old for toys! I was an idiot. Transformers RID 2000 got me back into toy collecting. Now that I am rebuilding my TMNT collection. I am just learning, that as a kid, I was only 4 figures away from having every TMNT figure from the original toy line. I want to finally compete the toy line.
Ответитьmy grail is the metal Transformer figure Jetfire.
ОтветитьOn the 80's cartoons, both the Ghostbusters and Turtles featured Godzilla variants - GB's was a manifestation of fictional monsters by a spirit, and the Turtles one was a prop that Bebop and Rocksteady thought was muscling in on their turf - no really. As for He-Man - well, he had a couple of REALLY big beasties even he was quick to seal up, being no fool. Even rarer than an intact Shogun G was Shogun Rodan, clearing 2K in box at some shows - thank God for Super 7.
A friend gave us his hand-less Shogun G, and I purchased a repro, which I was able to paint properly.
Sold a Thundercats lair for 3 g’s about a year ago
ОтветитьI definitely remember that blood pumping bat.
ОтветитьI have the Kenner Alien, Shogun Godzilla and Kraken! They are the holy grails of my collection!
ОтветитьWell i had the bat and the blood dried up so i pulled it apart but it was cool, i had the godzilla and as for play sets i had just about all the star wars one except the rebel transport the mego star trek almost every gi joe till the gi joe movie. I always wanted a big track and i had two hooded cobra comanders one still in the box to collect but my brother stole it and sold it
ОтветитьI had the Godzilla. Kicking myself for getting rid of it.
ОтветитьRecently started tmnt
ОтветитьStar wars,hot wheels, snoopy
ОтветитьDo you remember the sgt rock action figures or the warlord figures
ОтветитьI have the big godzilla toy
ОтветитьAwesome 😊
ОтветитьWhen the first Stars movie came out in the 70's I instantly fell in love with the Wookie Chewbacca. We were very poor then and my mother got a grant type thing for children in need where she could go to a huge warehouse to toy shop for us 3 kids in my family. I being the oldest was able to come along so if she needed help I was there. I was offered a toy of my choice to keep quiet about all this to the younger two. Not to be included as a Christmas present. I looked all around and came upon a 2 foot stuffed toy of Chewbacca. It was awesome. Even had his utility belt in gray and black plastic across his body. I slept with him for years then we moved and he was gone. I would do almost anything for a almost new like original one. That is my grail.
ОтветитьOr princesses of the universe?
ОтветитьHow about starwars toy memorabilia?
ОтветитьFroggy flips has that godzilla, also a gang of dino-riders, should reach out, sure he has contacts to get you closer to your nostalgia wants
ОтветитьGood vid m8, enjoyed seeing your holt grail dreams haha I have some Kidrobot stuff that are rare like a custom splinter for the TMNT set and I also have the set of Thoughts in Jeremyville and the figure was the lowest ever mainstream figure with only 12 ever made. I mean designer toys by the actual artists have got to be special right? I have the original set of bootlegs for the kidrobot dunnys also, they have gone off the radar on many peoples list now kidrobot but it doesnt make them less desirable to people especially being artist created etc
ОтветитьCaptain action spiderman used to have it sold regret it every day
ОтветитьI have a GODZILLA that your looking for complete
ОтветитьDid you end up getting an eternia? I have 2 boxed sealed never opened. Also a scratch and hotspot too. All sealed. Im not bothered about money but just them going to a better home than being stuck in my loft for 25+ years
ОтветитьYou'd cry. Motu when they first started making masters of the universe, then took a break for a few months, then started again, i had everything. Greyskull, snake mtn, all the figures, vehicles, weapons packs, EVERYTHING, still in the original package. We moved from Richland Washington to Newport hills and put everything in storage. After almost ten years of asking mom to go get everything, she finally told me and my brother that six months after we moved, she didn't pay the storage bill and everything was gone. Still think about it too this day, and that happened in the 80's. Would love to rebuild
ОтветитьMy grail is the hasbro Cloverfield monster I'm still chasing it only in my dreams now they want 2 to 3 thousand for it I can't pay that
ОтветитьFor me, it's easily the USS Flagg.
ОтветитьMaybe 1990 ish my mom gave me a Michael Keaton Batmobile that would seperate into 3 pieces. I think it did it in the movie as well. I would like to own it again.
