You actually want the rug pad 1" short on all four sides... so if you have an 8'x11' rug, you want to cut the rug pad to 7'10"x10'10" (2" cut on both W&L is 1" on all four sides). This gives the rug a chance to lay flat on all four sides and prevents curl ups.
