Nearly every time I use auto-dock on the Type 9 when entering a Coriolis station, my ship hits the bottom of the doc entrance. One time it even caused 10K credits worth of damage.

My type 10 has never had a problem.

I've used auto dock on my Type-9 about a thousand times and I didn't ever have a problem like this. Only a few times when I was flying towards a station too fast and then switched to auto dock I had instances colliding with a station

This video shows why if you use auto dock on any of the large ships you need the strongest shields you can get! I used auto dock on my type 9 Heavy and my Cutter all of the time. However I would never leave my keyboard while the auto dock was active. As long as you are at your keyboard all you have to do to abort the auto dock is adjust your throttle and take over manually. Knowing what you have your maneuvering thrusters mapped to is essential.

From my experience with the 9, manual isn’t all that much better. I keep getting stuck in the mailslot

standard docking computer only from now on, i mean really how can the advanced computer be dumber than the standard when it costs thrice as much

The only problem I see, is that autopilot did not use boost to push out that Orca faster. That's what I always do in my Mailslot Unclogger.

I use a type 10 and ive had multiple scenarios exactly like this. An orca or python or even a cutter once were in the way and the autipilot just kept on going. Like a semi slowly driving through a crowd. Its funny but can be very inconvenient

The thing is... Lakon AI doesn't care if there's a ship in front of it. The AI will keep going. I would know because the majority of the ships I have used were made by lakon

So, even with you ignoring it for ages. It still got you out of there safely. Just a fine when another ship was blocking the exit. That's a win.

never had that problem with the T-9, my Anaconda however....

I have this issue now with my anaconda! The anmount of times if will go straight into the wall above the exit! Then once it has bounces it engages rear thrusters! Drives me mad if I am silent running! See the front end of my ship open to space and on fire!

I've never had a problem with auto-docking, like ever. I'm way too lazy to remove auto dock and SC assist.

I can't go get coffee because that Auto Dock is going to kill me. 🤣

A friend of mine used to swear autodock was more useful than supercruise assist (I don’t need either anymore) until autodock killed him going into the station.
