There is not a scratch of evidence that we are nowhere near in creating conscious machines. We even don't know if the brain creates consciousness. It would be much wiser to invest our energy in human and animal rights than wasting time in this pseudo-scientific nonsense.

This is like going and telling the Wright brothers that they should stop making their plane because when it flies, it will become a living bird and therefore become an endangered animal and suffer.

We're only safe as long as its survival is dependent on humanity. If it figures out how to leave the planet and clone itself we're gonna get turned into stamps!

There is no chance that the people in control will stop this research. These are the same people who have known for decades that humans are creating climate change and chose profits instead of survival.

The only thing that makes a bit sense in his worry is the "loss of self-control" that would hurt humans...I don't think the suffering of senseless machine is a meaningful thesis at all...the talk about it indicates the lack of awareness of some fundamental nature of consciousness!
