As a fellow Filipino, I have this to say. Los Filipinos y Mexicanos serán siempre hermanos. History may not mention us very much but with some research, the world can know that Filipinos and Mexicans had each other’s backs since 1565.

A very misleading way of using facts. Such a tiny percentage of Filipinos are actually mixed with Spaniards. Despite their surnames being Spanish sounding they are mainly a conversion (when they were converted to Catholicism) not so much due to racial mixing. Both being colonized and religion were the main drivers of their surnames becoming Spanish sounding NOT due to racial mixing. Were there racial mixing between the two? Sure, mestizo existed between the Filipinos (named after King Fillip) and the Spanish colonizers but was really an insignificant number compared to, say, various Latin American countries. The overwhelmingly majority (like 90-something percent) of the Filipinos are of South East Asian origins without any Spanish admixture. Many Filipinos love to say they have some great, grandparents who are Spanish to try to set themselves apart from other Filipinos as to indicate they are special in some way or somehow better than the other Filipinos. Some (not all) Filipinos identify white as superior than their own race. Talk about internalized racism, self-hatred, and colonized mindset.
