Basically, if you are stationed below decks when the torpedo detonates, you are as good as dead even if the intitial massive shockwave doesn't take you out. (which would actually be preferably), Some of the guys topside might get to make a swim for it if they quit the vessel quickly enough. At a rough guess, 80-90% loss of the ship's personel .
Modern tin fish are extremely fast ,accurate and destructive with few effective countermeasures after they have been launched.
Once your ship is in the cross-hairs, you're history.
