Hi - really helpful video. One question, do you have to add in a 1/2'' offset for the hinges? it seemed like you measured the interior, but i would assume you need to measure with an offset of the exact interior frame.
Ответитьsweet summer child... that is assuming we aren't using a 20.00 table saw purchased from avan hippie 20 years ago!
ОтветитьWhat would I use instead of plywood if I wasn't painting and instead leaving my cabinets wood grain?
ОтветитьWhat type of wood is best or most commonly used to build these cabinet doors?
ОтветитьTHANK YOU. I’m doing it now! This will help me through!
ОтветитьVery good video. Thumbs up
ОтветитьBrilliant video, I'm 35 years on the tools but never made my own doors and I made a door for my electric meter cupboard but I routered the groove with my 18v makita router but it is so much easier and quicker to do it on my table saw and I did not tenon the stiles I just glued in the panels and cut 4 biscuits out of the same size panel and tapped into the groove I'd routered into the end's of the stiles but I am now going to have a go the way you have done it. So yeah love your work mate 49 years old and still learning lol.
ОтветитьThanks. Great video
ОтветитьNice work
ОтветитьHow much space did you allow for movement for the panel? Asking because if it moves once painted, wouldn’t it crack the paint where the frame meets the panel? Or, show raw wood if it moves?
ОтветитьThis video is 3yrs old so I’m not sure if you still read the comments or not. I have a question. I’m going to reface my kitchen cabinets and will build the doors based on your video. I’m going to be painting my cabinets and want the finished product to be as clean and sleek as possible. What are your thoughts on using MDF?
ОтветитьGreat video! Nicely explained and simple to follow! I know what project I will be tackling next!
ОтветитьBest explanation I’ve seen on the subject. Nice job.
ОтветитьI really liked your tutorial on these doors. I’m making my own cabinet as I’m typing and googled how to make the doors and your video popped up! 😊
I want to use your method as I don’t have high- tech equipment, BUT- I can not for the life of me understand how to translate/ calculate fraction inch (like 16th of an inch etc) to mm and cm. 🙈
You're great
ОтветитьI don't have a drill press...yet 😇 but maybe one day. What kind of wood can I use pine for the frames and door frames? You are a great teacher! God blessed you with an amazing gift.
Ответитьexcellent tutorial. thank you!
ОтветитьOne thing. With the door now glued up in your clamps you measure for squareness and say that 1/16 out is ok BUT you didn’t explain what to do to correct if ours is more than 1/16 out. That’s pretty important to have not demonstrated.
ОтветитьThank you for skipping all the BS! Very direct and to the point.
ОтветитьThis is so well done and incredibly helpful thank you! I may have missed it as a novice, but are your rails and stiles 1 inch thick? Thank you!!
ОтветитьThe best method for people who are novices there best using a kreg set
ОтветитьDude this was so good!
ОтветитьThe wood in this looked like a soft wood of some kind - was it natural or a synthetic composite? A hardwood like maple also works, but makes for a more expensive door.
ОтветитьYour work is second to none may God continue to bless you and your family outstanding job
ОтветитьWhat is a board square?
ОтветитьGreat tutorial, it was just what I'm looking for! Thanks
ОтветитьNicely done.
ОтветитьI Just did my first shaker door thanks to your videdo. You are a great teacher !!
ОтветитьAbsolutely awesome online tutorial!! I never thought I could but now I know I will make my own doors!
ОтветитьCould you tell me what wood you used on this?
ОтветитьAwesome video for beginners handheld routers course. It was easy to follow. Thank you kindly for the course.
Ответитьhey thanks for this video, i just did 7 doors. Why cut the pannels 1/8 short? You dont want them to go to the bottom of the grooves? Thanks you again!! ❤❤❤
ОтветитьGreat informational video. Thanks! I always watch these and most dont handle the issue if door is out of square. At some point, perhaps you could cover that in a video. It would sure be appreciated.
ОтветитьI might have missed it, but was there a recommendation for the type of wood for these, we are thinking about trying this to replace our cabinet door fronts. Pine? Maple?
ОтветитьOf the dozens of videos I've watched on making cabinet doors, this has to be the best for completeness, clarity, succinctness, accuracy, editing and script. Well done! The only thing I'd add for viewers reading this is that using a flat-top grind (FTG) blade instead of an alternate tooth bevel blade will help the joinery go even more quickly and accurately. I'm sure Training Hands left this out purposely as it's not necessary and most beginning DIYers don't already have this blade in their shop.
ОтветитьGreat job!!!
ОтветитьJust getting started. I have a router table but not a table saw.
My cutters cut 7/16" instead of 3/8. Really got complicated, lol.
Very God maifren
ОтветитьExactly what I was looking for- exactly. 👍👍
ОтветитьGreat job 💯
ОтветитьWhen you said to add 3/4 for the tenons is that for each side or did you divide that in half for each side?
ОтветитьNice video with clear instructions. My only question is what do you do if your plywood is undersized? Then it will have a sloppy fit in the groove because the tenon is centered and a perfect quarter inch. Do you just make the tenon the same thickness as plywood to make it all jive?
ОтветитьNice ! Trying this today
Ответитьclear and precise great tutorial thank you
Ответитьwhat size were your boards before you cut them? 1 x 4? i cant seem to figure out where to get the paint grade maple either.
ОтветитьWhat kind of wood could you use for the styles , I was thinking birch 1/2 inch
