ОтветитьWhat platform can I use to create an educational game, with no coding required?
Ответитьi wanna be a game dev because i love games (not just playing them). But I cant stand working in groups and thinking of being a single game dev. Thank you for showing me what it takes, i might need to rethink my career (still in games but maybe small group).
ОтветитьVery nice advice thank you so much 👍🏿
ОтветитьI will never be able to make a game.
Ответитьthis is amazing!!! simple and clean .. Thank you!!!
ОтветитьThis video feels like a resume for you to get a job not a humble, helpful, informative video
ОтветитьThat is awesome.
ОтветитьTry to do a little bit of everything.
Fortunately, I'm webdesigner, but I'm fall into 3D modeling, in the motion design, in the music and now, I'm a intermediary programmer (C#) and I have a great creativity since my childhood to write and create fantasy and I can supply all of my projects areas.
I can say: Don't do exactly everything 100%, but do a little thing of n things and go to learn a main area.
If you are learn this, I can say: you are capable! Believe 😊
Thank you its kind of you fr the open resources wish you best of luck in your future endeavors.
ОтветитьI cant work in the 3D industry anymore.. its just so toxic and feel like you have to fight for everything. But I now have all that knowledge about vfx, modelling and texturing. I want to make games but cant code. This video does help layout what is needed and shows that everything take some time. Im gonna start walking the path slowly until I feel rdy to start and put myself into game developping.
ОтветитьI am 23 and I am a part time coder working on my own without any companies just for fun! I have around 200 different games unpublished (yeah ik it is stupid to say this without being published) but I have a reason for this! Firstly I can enjoy my own work without having a bunch of people hating and telling me to fix bugs! I mean I fixed a lot of bugs since I created my first game. Also I have to add that only 85 of them are not online games so I can play "only" these. But I will skip this part for now.
Well I like my games and Idc if I am gonna make profit or even nothing I just care to have fun after my job! I have successfully some online business and I am working from home! So money isn't motivating me to publish these games. I am an ego person ik bc I want these games to be played only from me. Reasons? As I said no hate, no bugs to fix and also I don't have to apologize every time a customer has an issue in a game bc he has a shitty device or internet but lying about it just to put the blame on the company!
You're still asking yourself why I am writing this thing. Well I want to give a message from my story: Don't try to make money only, have fun with your own creations! I mean what? If only the money and your career is motivating you then you are never gonna like your game as you would if you cared only about creating good games! Thx for your time I hope every coder starts creating games (even with the help of other people) to improve the gaming industry and not playing only games like Fortnite and Minecraft! Be patient and try to become as productive as you can!
Thx again for your time and god bless you!
Where can I get the music for that song you didn't use please?
Ответитьoh so your solution is get money from donators
ОтветитьI remember playing your game called Coma back in 2013. I was a teenager then. I loved the little piano tune and the graphics and I everything about it. I'd go to the dock and set after you talk to the bird and go to sleep with with guitar tune and the water. Its so awesome that you made another game and when i have the chance im going to play it. I decided to start learning to code and eventually make my own game, possibly with the help of my brother. Thank you so much for this video!
ОтветитьHeartwarming
ОтветитьI've been playing with this idea of a game for quite some time. However I know nothing about coding (yet) and art really isn't my thing.. and with the fact I'm a single, full-time working mom I'm almost to scared to even begin. I wouldn't even know where to start even..
Yet this video gives me some new motivation and check and try out ^^
Thanks for that video!
ОтветитьNow... I'm feeling good! Thx!
ОтветитьWith all due respect, from my personal experience, obtaining capital from crowd funding is extremely difficult and rare.
ОтветитьThanks for the video, I've been making shitty little mini games for years now on Unity, finally started to dedicate my time and effort into making a real game, I found a very passionate team to have as my foundation (they're working commission based I promised them a % of the game when it's released since their prices are really good I don't know what I'd do with out them) I've got the core mechanics all done placeholder assets to show my artists what the animations may look like or just give her some inspiration and my friend and I came up with a very bad story that my artists friend is helping with ive only read chapter 1 and the work hes got done is insane!!! I was struggling to keep learning JSON to make a save load system for my game and was getting ready to give up, I'm just glad to see that I'm not the only one struggling with a "solo" gamedev journey if my artist or story writer are reading this, I can't express how great ful I am to have you guys!
ОтветитьHey if you could reply that would be great, did you do the art all by yourself as well?
ОтветитьLiving legend.
ОтветитьI have always wanted to make a game, and seeing what you did, I probably wouldn’t have went through that. I wrote down what I wanted and worked on the plot and what I wanted the game to be for countless hours before I started to create it so I would not have to rewrite code or delete lots of progress. I recommend you do that first before anything, it really helps.
ОтветитьThank you for this video, to support you, I will buy one of your game. Keep it up man. This helped
ОтветитьThank God for the new grounds demo. I bought it instantly after.
ОтветитьYou are awesome
ОтветитьDoes anyone have any good places (even paid sites) that explain the coding for Unreal Engine? I've been trying unsuccessfully to learn it (I'm older now) and the programming aspect is just difficult for me to pick up. My background is in graphic design, so I know how to create assets but hell if I know how to actually put it all together in to a working game.
ОтветитьI'm only 13 but I really want to make a game now. I have a lot of ideas and even optimization strategies. I actually have ideas for several games. This video really helped boost my confidence!
ОтветитьThank you so much for this! I'm trying to get into making games but I'm doing everything myself which is getting pretty overwhelming and the fact that I am having trouble making characters and using assets makes me feel like I'm cheating. Your video has definitely helped me feel more confident about it and now I'm ready to use the assets that I put money into in my projects
Ответитьbiggest problem also with starting dev, if u know, your idea of a game and story will shine if made well, you cannot work on it right away, because once you release it on steam it might be just piece of crap, full of bugs, not optimized etc., you have only one chance to bring 1 game that pays out. I will give example from movie world, you cannot try to make a Predator three times until it's good AAA movie, people will stop care. Keep your best project for later time if u don't have funding or solid look and gameplay, do not waste the good story or idea on a bad game tryout, release something smaller first. Otherwise you will lock the story waiting 5+ years for better remaster, and name of a game or your dev name, will be smudged by unsuccessful previous try.
ОтветитьI subscribed because your energy, the sincerity in your voice, and the passion in your eyes truly moved me. It felt like a breath of fresh air. I'm 28 years old, been in a corporate job for five years, but now, I've decided to pursue a bachelor's degree in game development, even if it means finishing it by the age of 32. My bank account isn't brimming with savings, but I'm fueled by a big dream: creating and publishing my own multiplayer game.
This dream is my life's core, and I'm not just a dreamer, I'm a husband and a family person. I tend to be introverted, partly due to life's unpredictable circumstances where I often fear receiving that dreaded call about a loved one passing away, necessitating a quick return home and leaving my heart heavy. But apart from those moments, I consider myself a content and joyful person. Your energy, your passion, and your authenticity gave me wings and made me believe that I can achieve this dream. Your influence has ignited a change within me.
I hope you come across my comment, even though I'm usually fashionably late to everything in life (or so I thought). Being comment number 886, I simply wanted to express my heartfelt gratitude because today, you've altered the course of a life – mine. Thank you.
Regardless of the contents of the video, Undertale is actually a pretty bad example because it’s been revealed later that Toby got tons of help with Undertale. Temmie did a lot of the art (to quote Toby, “anything that looks good was drawn by Temmie”), Magnolia Porter and Omocat helped with the monster designs, Gigi Digi helped out with assets here and there as well… Toby did do the music, writing, and coding by himself which is nothing to sneeze at but he’s not the one man wonder everyone thinks he is and pushing that narrative is disingenuous and sets a bad standard for new indies coming into the space that think they have to match an absolute beast of a game like UT (also had a 5 year dev cycle by the way) all by themselves.
ОтветитьUninstall all games but one. Voila - the remaining game is alone!
ОтветитьI want to remake a old game that no one talks about aymore because i fell in love with this game as a kid.
ОтветитьSlowly. But at exactly my pace.
ОтветитьI've been creating this huge worl that i want to make but i don't have any kind of knowledge in gamedev and im trying so hard to find my footing in were i begin, i feel so lost and i just know that i want this world to exist
ОтветитьI’m not a game dev but I’ve been working on a solo graphic novel project for the past 5 years or so and I can really relate to a lot of what you’re saying. I’ve been doing the drawing, writing, coloring, lettering, designing etc. all myself, and now that I’m nearly finished with an almost 300 page book, I look back seeing all the things I should have done differently. I also will definitely ask for more help in the future, if I get the chance to make something else like this again.
Ответитьinspiring, thank you.
ОтветитьYou lost me at the "free course" part. Just another scammy devlogger.
ОтветитьI've only just started out with making games, but I've been working on the same novel for years. This was surprisingly applicable to that. Writing is a very lonely activity and I definitely care about my story way too much. Thanks for sharing your experience :)
ОтветитьDude what a great story to share! I just started to play around with Unity✌️
Ответить@thomasbrush
I can't enroll for the free 3d course somehow. The enroll button stucka in loading mode!
Is there any other way to do so?
Scratch developers : You underestimate my power.
ОтветитьGreat information bro
Ответить"Half-made projects thrown into the trash" Heh, story of my life...
Ответитьthank you you give me courage to continue the game cause i have delete so many projects because i always change the idea the mechanics everything from 2d to 3d from fps to adventure.
i want to asked something i use unity but i will change to unreal 5 cause the unity say that they will take money from the developer 0.02 per download is this gonna happen 100% or is not sure
This is really great advice Thomas. You're a good man (and clearly highly talented!).
