I know some older people who worked in banking and big business as expats in Singapore for a while. It's the same as anywhere in the world, if you have the money, you can have a very good life. If money is tight, things become very hard very quickly.

Funny how a foreigner could see things so clearly while some locals couldn't.

Worked in singapore for a year now and i can safely say its a literal dystopia
You literally cant do anything, you are monitored 24/7 , you cant vape, chew gum ,smoking is limited,no shisha, everything is friggine expensive and taste like garbage compared to malaysia, the work culture is super toxic and demanding. Getting a car or house here is a joke that you never ever get.

You also see super rude people everywhere and girls walking on the streets everywhere dressing like prostitutes because of how 'safe' it is here, its a terrible place to live unless you are that depraved for money or just a depraved person in general. which i would say its not worth your soul.

Only good thing i can say about it is that is somewhat beautiful in certain areas like Marina bay and Changi airport since IMAGE is key....

Most people are rude there... Not really good for tourist. The country beautiful and clean but the people needs work with regards to customer service. I will never go back there as a tourist unless if its for business purpose.

The malay muslim ppl of malaysia is always belittle the malay muslim of S pore by saying that they were neglected and being oppresed to many living matter such as economics cake, islamic value and the malay culture This were told by many jeolousy malaysian malay politician like the Tun and Tan .
S pore has gone very far ahead in economics and standard of living and left behind neighbour cross the causeway in very embrassing and live in stupidy situation.
After few visit to s pore than we knew that the malay and muslim of s pore is far more better than the malay of malaysia and differ than what was told by the racist tun and tan.
What spore can say is let the frog live under the cocunat shell and say hihi bye bye malesia

Housing, inflation, xenophobia, racial tension, economy, crime have always been every country issues. It just so happen, for singapore, though not perfect is handled better than others.
Been a country with no resources including the basic items even water, it has to be continually moving and improving. Look at it's neighbours and compare that with Sjngapore, and one will understand. Only Those who are resides will understand.

Being an expat in Singapure, I think I won't never be used to see so many luxury brand stores and cars in such a small city. It's insane how there are so many rich people here consuming in these high luxury market. Having a car is a prohibited option for most of the Singapure's population.

I find Singaporeans like to bash Malaysia to make themselves feel good. Back to topic, Singapore is only great if you are rich with all the facilities available to them. Good luck if you are in the middle income. Granted Singapore’s GDP is highest in the region but does it translate to better well being for the people?

Corruption free? Paying big money and therefore buying government ministers is the highest form of corruption. Banking also closes eyes on dirty money from around the world especially from China. Low birth rate? Hopefully it will get better now they have sex shops 😂😂😂

You can't tell this in public or else the state will shut you up. There is no opposition in SG; in fact opposite is punishable by law. How many opposition officials were either jailed or defamed? Yes, the reward is good at the expense of the breathing space for the citizens living in it.

Your neighbors may not be as developed as you are but we all breathe freely. No burnouts. No stress. No worries.

Why does foreign investment work in a place like Singapore, with no natural resources? But somewhere in Africa foreign investment is considered exploitation and doesnt seem to help the country? Singapore welcomed it. And it benefited them. What's the disconnect?

As an American, I can tell you it's a global issue, and what governments have lost sight of is that you need a middle class. Poor and wealthy people don't support economies buy buying cars, homes, or goods in mass. It is the middle class that produces the children need to sustain future growth. Since the wealthy is all these governments care about. The collapse is imminent because the middle class is not prioritized in the economic systems.

Burned out, low self esteem, lack of artistic expression? So what if they have good paying jobs, safe streets, well managed society with low crimes and corruption. Do they think that 'free" people living in poor countries have better self esteem, not burned out and artistically expressive? And even if they do, they all amount to nothing if they have no jobs, no health care, no houses.
