I use Drops Paris exclusively for amigurumi

First time ever hearing of this brand since I've only really bought yarn from local stores, but those prices are SHOCKING and the quality seems incredible. I expect myself to be ordering some soon!

I'm from the US, but Drops was the brand I started out with years ago because it was mostly what my LYS carried. I didn't realize until after the shop closed that it's almost impossible to find elsewhere in North America! Last I checked there was a single US distributor. Such a bummer.

I've made a couple accessories from the yarn now known as Snow, as well as Drops' Walk in the Woods knit capelet (in lovely moss stitch) with crochet trim and button cover.

EDIT: I always order Drops through Wool Warehouse too. Had great experiences with them and DHL.

Thank you so much!! I just discovered DROPS and was drawn to the huge variety and vibrant colours. I bought a handful of Paris skeins after debating for a long time between Paris and Muskat.

So far I am loving the stitch definition of Paris in my star stitch scarf.

Karisma is also one of the yarns I was drawn to but I was put off by the hook size recommendation. Your video has reassured me that I can try a 5-6mm hook and the swatch you made looks EXACTLY like the baby blanket pattern I had in mind for this yarn.

Your videos are invaluable and you are an inspiration. I cannot thank you enough.

You do the best yarn reviews—real content! I have not used Drops yarn but will try it. Probably because I tried their patterns once and found them EXTREMELY confusing. Still can’t figure them out. 😮😢

I was working on a beach cover up recently using Safran, and I felt kind of meh about it. However, I was using black, and I'm learning that I just hate crocheting in black, so I think I may have been a little unfair. XD

What stitch were you doing with the Nord in this video??

I think Karisma is really targeted at Norwegian knitters who are used to working with quite rough wool that isn't superwash treated. It was launched in the 1980's and superwash and lighter wools were not common-- if it didn't itch it wasn't warm and durable enough!

I’m a beginner at crochet and I found drops really hard to work with. Maybe it’s because it’s cotton, but it was so hard on my hands.

Thank you for your excellent review. Drops is amazing! But I have to give a shout out to Drops Air, Drops Wish and Drops Muskat. These are my personal favourites. Would be great to hear your expert opinion one those too 😊

Also, if you love alpaca, Drops usually have a "Alpaca Party" sale 2 times a year for a whole month with 30% of all their yarns with alpaca 😉

Your title drew me to this video (Champagne yarns on a beer budget :D :D :D), especially since I am knitting my first sweater with Drops Alaska atm. I tried it on and it feels a bit scratchy on my skin but I hope this'll go away after washing and blocking. At least it did on my swatch. I just LOVE going through their website and getting inspiration with all their free patterns. Thanks for the great review! I was thinking about knitting the next sweater with Flora and Kid Silk but after watching this video, I will probably rethink that combination! It's hard to estimate what the finished garments will feel like when you can only see the yarns in pictures online...

The problem I have with drops is that almost all yarn is splitting, no matter how much careful I am. The wool is so scratchy that I can't wear it and I am not a delicate little flower. The positives are the price and the colours.

Alpaca silk is lovely, I wish there were more colours .Best for knitting

Drops is a new collection for me. Thank you for adding the note about which yarns would pill the most. I want that Veronica cocoon!

I feel the brushed alpaca silk could be used with a smaller hook by itself if one doesn't want to combine it with another yarn to bulk it up, although maybe not with the giant halo catching itself.

I’m need to crochet and have taught myself by watching videos. I really enjoy your videos and love the education and tips you provide. I would like to crochet a quilt style blanket with a variety of color. I haven’t been able to find much about yarn that would be best for this project.
