For those who are wondering, the abrams was hit in the side of the turret, likely near the ammo where Russian atgms are likely going to penetrate(The abrams has most of its armor in the front of the tank, mainly on the turret cheeks with some armor on the side of the turret.) it’s kinda funny seeing people yap about abrams being destroyed and don’t understand anything about tanks.

How do you set this up to test rounds on these different tanks?

Countries should start using war thunder as a tool to see where their tanks weakness is

how do you get into this custom mode I can't find it anywhere in the menu.

A small note about APFSDS thats good to know. Look at the animations for the round in the vehicle selection. If its got that bulge near the front and isnt a completely straight rod, its a "short rod" APFSDS. If it doesnt, it's a "long rod". Long rods seem to usually have better performance against composite, you'll even notice this in protection analysis when you mouse over say the 2A4 with the flat turret front. 3BM22 will show a higher effective thickness than 3BM42 on the same plate with no angle.

So basically shoot every tank on the gun bridge.

You play ariete because its a beautifully designed tank not because its good

Don’t shoot lower hull on Leo 2’s, I only carry 16 rounds, all you’re doing is tickling my loaders feet

There are a lot more cheeky weak spots on a lot of tanks like the little gunner optic on the right sight (facing front) on a T-Seris Russian tank can wipe out the gunner and then the little box above the diver port on the hull on the Leopard series easy turret ring and kills the commander and gunner and turret ring…
just some little things to notice and to pay attention to, also provides more weak spot locations

ah yes, the fuel explosion of leclerc, it's what got me killed most of the time with helis and planes.

kinda funny how in the cold war the new atgms, heat and darts rendered armor useless, so many tanks like leo and amx-30 focused on mobility, then composite armor was invented to make armor useful for stopping rounds again, and now tanks just have railguns that can cut armor like soft butter. maybe armor will soon go out of style again

Very helpful wideo ,but u forgot one important reason: if u have active x300,x500 gold/xp booster and your enemy donated to snail more than 100€ all of weak spots just disappearing

Unless you're in a Leopard 2A7/122 or a T-80/90m you're tanks gonna be just as bad as every other nations. All Abrams have going for them is mobility, they get one shot just as easy as a Chally's Leclercs and Ariete's.

The u.s Abram’s and Russian t-series tanks having 3 common front weak spots seems to explain why their win rates are so low. While the leopards rly only have 2

For any Russian tank go fro breach no matter what the drivers hatch is small and hard to hit on the move and the lower front plate is also super thin and 60% it won’t kill so always do breach

Leclerc make’s me sad fr, back in the days I absolutely love the Leclerc but now it’s just a sad tank like the ariete 😔

Aim for the gun breach in generell. Or if u see an enemy from the side or if the tank is on a slight angle aim below the turrets center. Apfsds can go through extreme angles so if the enemie is angled only 20° shoot in the side so the round travels through below the turret. Kills everyone in the tank

Actually its kinda funny, the t34-85 can pen most top tier tanks from the front (i always check in protection analysis with the t34-85) even if most of them are extreme weakspots, the fact that it CAN speaks volumes about how OP russian APHE is

if you have top apfsds (dm53,m829a2/1,m95 etc.) you can even pen the flat most frontal spots of the merkava turret

So is the armor of the 2A7 weaker than the STRV122? It seems like the driver port areas of the 2A7 can be penned but not on the 122s

If you cannot penetrate your target, aim their Cupola with your HE round. It will do the job.

I wonder how people reach top tier in this game. I have 4 or 5 top tiers in wot but war Thunder I hardly reached to tiger e with 1 month or something

I m sad about upper front plate of Leclerc, Abrams, 2A6. With the angle i don't understand how the shell go trought the plate

Few things I would like to add

Russian tanks ammo at toptier has a pretty high chance of not detonating
so I would recommend going for the gun breach vs T-series tanks if they are facing you
side shots on the turrets of T-series tanks are also a reliable way to kill the tank since they have only 3 crew and 2 sit in the turret

and with the Type 10 you always want kill its breach
I dont think there is reliable shot from the front to kill 2 crew and since its commander can also fire the gun you are fucked if you shoot it and only manage kill 1 crew

and when your team sees you trade hits the type 10 they think you crippled it and then they of course try to push it and its carnage

have not played after they added the spall liners but I think these points will still stand

when in doubt lower front plate i say

As an Italian main just shoot anywhere in the Ariete and it will go thru lol, we truly suffer :(
