2021 Kia K5 | Review & Road Test

Can someone direct me to a resource that I can educate myself on Cars? I'm loving kia & hyundai and want to know more about its reliablity/quality .

I love the exterior and interior. This car reminds me of a Korean take on a Dodge Charger and I think it is really sharp.

The GT-Line is the AWD version!

You can’t get leather in the current K5 lineup. It’s leatherette.

"out dazzle the Sonata"? Please. The Sonata is one of the ugliest new cars. Looks like a giant cat fish. The K5 is way more sexier and sportier.

Wow, hiring Peter Schreyer who use to design cars for Audi now work for Kia,Hyundai,Genesis Group is paying off.

I love my Stinger GT and looking forward to checking out and test driving this one.

I like Kia and its K5! The trunk has LED lighting like the Dodge Charger/Dart!

I am not a Kia fan, Hell Kia is forbidden in my family. But I really want a Kia K5. Surprisingly I lust over it more then the Challenger or Mustang options. The interior feels very classic barge esque in a small package. Just like my Grand Marquis LS. It has all the nice sight lines, literally go look up the Grand Marquis interior and then compare it to this. Its nearly the same, I think thats what makes me like it too.

Just came back after test driving this.
Did not like -
1. Bose 12 speaker centerpoint system - sound is not powerful neither has clarity(kind of muffled). Had high hopes here. What was Bose thinking? In fact, Bose did a far better job with just 9 speakers on the 2020 Altima SL and no subwoofer. Sounds way more powerful and clear.
2. Interiors do not give a finer finish feel. For example the temperature control knobs.
3. Lane keep assist was little wobbly(really need to concentrate to feel that), not sure why.
4. No chrome handle bars.
5. Acceleration could be better. Even sport mode did not help.
What I liked -
1. Can activate lane keep assist even without cruise control. Should help even in non highway drives. Great feature.
2. Lane keep assist doesn’t require hands on wheels for a long time. For me it never asked. 😀👏. The dealer got me off the highway soon.
3. Rear view camera clarity.
4. Overall technology considerations. Bang for buck factor. Would make you think twice before you can let go off this vehicle when compared with rest in similar category.😀

all Hyundai theta engines cease up around 50k-90k.
thats why Hyundai changes its name to "smart stream".
they are exact same engines but pretending as newly designed engine.
Do not trust Hyundai - KIA.

They should have named it the K5 Spectre or something like that. Then it would have sounded like something out of James Bond MI6 lol. I mean no it isn't the KiA Stinger which is well out of my price range.

The K5 is good enough and feels a lot more premium actually than it should. People asking me all the time what is it and that's actually the best part. It's a conversation piece for sure.

Not to mention is much better than the dual-clutch Ford Focus I used to have. I don't like the way those handle at least that has been my experience with that transmission.

I would also consider adding the premium package. As you'll get Sunroof, LED headlights, Fog Llghts, (GT-Line), heated steering, heated side view mirrors. Along with adaptive cruise & a good selection of safety features.

Which is really some of its best assets. Kia is also coming out with EV6 electric. As well as Stinger getting it's own electric crossover I think. But for now the K5 is a great car and checks most boxes for me. :)

I'm pretty sure the 10.5 inch touch screen doesn't have wireless Apple car play. It's been a source of much frustration among Kia fans. Double check your info please.

Given how loaded you can get the GT-Line AWD, I don't understand why Kia doesn't provide upgraded audio option...?!?

I went from driving atmospheric manual Mazdas to a VW electric, both much more direct than this car. It kind of feels sluggish even though my current 1.5 manual Mazda 2 only has 100 horsepower or so. The Mazda just goes when you want it to go, not 2 seconds later. Compared to my VW ID3 (which I have in Europe) this Kia feels outright slow. Certainly not unusable with a bit of planning, though.

Love my 2021 Kia K5. And it gets way better mpg than reported here. Consistently 50 mpg hwy.
