CEDtalks Horror PODCAST
CEDtalks Horror PODCAST - 27.10.2022 23:07

Love this video. Just found you. Something I've started to do is:

1. Put my iPhone on a Ring light. Film my videos/podcast.
2. Connect my podcast mic with a tabletop stand (A USB MIC) to my iPhone using an iPhone USB adapter.
3. And get a pair of headphones.

THAT'S IT!

This allows the audio to be superb but also get really slick video as well. An iPhone video is better than any webcam, and close to but not as good as a DLSR, which I have two of. I just don't use anymore because the iPhone can be used in connection with a teleprompter app.

I'm confused. You didn't have anything hooked up to your computer. Where is your audio going? Do you have a different computer off-screen? I can understand that the camera records to an SD card, which you later download to your editing software, but then you have to sync up your audio and I don't see where your audio is going? I've been trying to do this by recording my audio through a Vocaster2 into my macbook and the audio is sooooo quiet. I can't seem to get a normal audio output. I've now purchased two different microphones (ATR2100x and a FocusRite) and the Vocaster2 and am starting to think it's the macbook, which is why I'm curious about where your audio is going. My setup right now is: Canon M50, ATR2100x using XLR, Vocaster2, Macbook Pro, iMovie.

Just picked up a Sub Zero podcast Interview Pack. Two XLR mics, interface/ mixer cables stands. About $250 in your money. Starting Monday. I'll keep you posted!

Great tutorial! Thanks, Brian! I host a web radio show on a college radio station and occasionally want/need to be able to record from home rather than at the station. I have a nice USB mic (Samson C01UPro) for home use with a shock mount and boom. I'll probably upgrade to a dynamic XLR mic. What I need to sort out is how to record audio from my computer like MP3 files via Media Player or Spotify in real time while recording my voice or a guest. Will the RODECaster allow me to do that?

The $500 and 1k options assume you have a computer as well, the most expensive piece of equipment.

For 100 dollars you could get a Razer Seiren mini, 20 dollar Sony headphones and a boom arm and record with audacity lmao

Good informative video, thanks.
What kind of camera did you use for the video. I’ve got a GoPro 9 I plan to use for video and how do you sync the sound with the video. I also have Jbl series 3 5 inch monitors and a focusrite 2i2, various mics & stands and an iPad Pro 11 inch. I will get a dslr in the future

The only thing I didn't like about this video was your under 100 options because one what if someone doesn't have an iPhone and 2 a lavalier mic blows both options out of the water you can also connect a Blue yeti to your phone using a USB adapter. There is so many options you left it for the under 100 setup like using a Samsung q2u which is a USB xlr mic for around 60 dollars

Great channel and content! I'm a huge gearhead, so this video is right up my alley. I'm currently using the exact same mic and boom arm setup as yours: the PreSonus PD-70 and the Blue Compass and a RØDE PodMic as a backup/guest mic. I really deliberated on the mixing desk/audio interface decision between the RØDECaster Pro and the TASCAM Mixcast 4, but ended up landing on the Mixcast. I'm considering adding the king-daddy of broadcast mics into my setup next: the Shure SM7B.

Thanks for the pro tips. I love the lighting in your setup. Do you have other recommendations aside from the RCP? Are there good lower cost options?

excellent tutorial, Brian! I am obsessed with the setup. Thank you for this video! definitely sending this to a friend who wants to start a podcast, and I wasn’t sure where to send her. I thought that overhead shot was killer, would love to know more about that angle.
