what affordable dac would you pair with these?
ОтветитьComparing the Dali Spektor 2 and the Kef Q150s, which is better? And what are their Sound signatures like?
ОтветитьIf you want to real FUTURE FI that could be an alternative to a soundbar, then use wall mount speaker instead of stand mount. You can get them at any price range and size and of course in white.
ОтветитьQ150 with a Schiit Loki....marvelous
ОтветитьKef Q350 are my favourite speakers, above JBLs 530, 580, DCM Timeframe.. I own them all and Kefs are so linear but pleasing. Paired with 100w p c solid state Sony ES separates, and Willsenton R8 is pure magic.
Ответить$100 stands and I’d add a sub instead of upgrading the amp or speakers.
Ответитьhi there i love your comments on logitech devices.. i would love to hear your thoughts on the transporter , i have looked for one of these but can't find one anywhere.. keep up the good work ...
ОтветитьI'm in this camp. Q300's + Andrew Jones sub on a Sonos AMP. Another AMP drives Boston patio speakers, and we've got Sonos BEAM2 and MOVEs all over the house. Any song, anywhere. I love it. Sure, I get tempted by a refurbished set of LS50's or R3's but then my better angels kick in. Well done — play some CAN
ОтветитьI love the Q-series. I have a pair of Q950 floor standing speaker. Big sound for a big room.
ОтветитьGreat quick and simple system that your partner will surely approve of. Esthetics and simplicity can be important oftentimes.
ОтветитьI’d love to know how you can hear all these differences, mid treble low treble, highs etc cos I really can’t hear the differences that accurately. Thus I’ll never be an audiophile 😀
ОтветитьWhat about putting it agains two sonos five speaker system?
ОтветитьHow does this type of setup compare to the KEF LSX2?
ОтветитьThank you so much. This is a setup that I want
ОтветитьAnd suddenly I had white Q150s and a Powernode Edge too :p Gonna replace a 5.1 system in my new home, but it all has to stay boxed for a few more weeks... Gonna keep by BK sub for now, see if its a match for the speakers and the room. Gonna try to listen to music a bit more again.
ОтветитьGood Video. Interesting setup. All white to boot....
ОтветитьWhat about my cd's? Any advice? Must be white.. 📀📀
ОтветитьDid you know that you can actually map the volume buttons of any remote control the Apple Siri Remote? I‘ve got a pair of B&W 606 S2 AE coupled with a Cambridge Audio AXR100D, which is connected to the TV via Toslink which in turn has an Apple TV HD connected. The only negative is that I have to turn the Amp off manually, but that doesn’t worry me.
ОтветитьThis is the system Michael Barrymore would buy…
ОтветитьHow would the Q150 work as a rear surround speaker? I have HSU CCB-8s (which is also a concentric speaker) across the front stage and I think the KEFs would match up nicely as surrounds.
ОтветитьFor desktop use for games and music would you recommend these vs the q350 or klipsch RP-600m ?
ОтветитьI just ordered a Powernode Edge. I am anxious to see how it will do in my 2.1 home theater and stereo setup. I currently run a Cambridge combo CXN and CXA81. I like the sound but there are a couple of things that bother me about the system. First , bass management only a pre out for the sub. Second the lack of HDMI ARC. I am tired of reaching for a second remote to control the volume plus the motor on the volume pot of the Cambridge amp chages too fast with the remote making it hard to dial in a suitable volume. I am interested how the sound of the Powernode Edge will compare to the Cambridge duo.
ОтветитьI paid $244 for a pair of Q150. They sound great. However, I still prefer my Apple HomePods, we have 2 of the larger ones and together they are the best bookshelf speakers I’ve ever heard.
ОтветитьJust clicked on the video because of the Q150s :D 2 years ago I built my stereo system with them and a Yamaha S501 Amplifier. It seems the Amplifier is a bit too powerful as I can't turn the volume up more than 1/3 but apart from that I'm pretty happy with it. For futurefi I added a raspberry pi zero with the justboom digi zero connected via coax, pretty happy with that too as I like to tinker directly with the software running on that thing. Nice build though with the Powernode thanks for the video!
ОтветитьI just bought a pair of KEF Q150's, and I think they're outstanding in my home office. While I listen to some electronic music, most of it's classical, and I find them remarkably present, and at the same time neutral. What a value!!!
ОтветитьI tooooootally get you with the soundbar thing.
My blood boils whenever I hear someone talking about a fricking soundbar when they want to enhance music apart from the speaker sound from the television...
Bloody hell it's annoying :D
I really liked this video. I've heard of you... I peruse your website from time to time. This got my sub... So Hello! and hello to the comment section!
I like the future-fy ideology and how clean the setup looks. Thanks for sharing that Techno Album too. Sadly, I can only find volume 1 on streaming.
I have the Q350 but i do not like them that much, i also have a pair of Yamaha NS333 and my opinion Yamaha sounds better, but i guess depends on the amplifier u use, for example on Yamaha I had a denon pma amplifier which sounded rich and powerful and now i have also denon x1300 receiver and sounds average, i bought this week a crown xls amplifier and i am curious if sound changes on speakers.
ОтветитьYou lost me at "all white". Just an aesthetic choice.
ОтветитьI think it’s beautiful
ОтветитьThanks for these suggestions, always something I would not have considered before.
ОтветитьMy stereo HomePods sound better than my ls50s. Why…
ОтветитьQ Acoustics is a dream :)
Ответитьthought between q150/powernode edge vs svs prime wireless pro? price are basically the same around 900. I'm torn between these two setup and would like to hear people's thoughts on this
Ответитьyour floor is NOT leveled to get 100% clear sound, you get only 99%
ОтветитьI've had a pair of Q150 for over a year now that I picked up $300 USA and have not entertained replacing them yet...I have them paired with a 50 w class D streaming DAC amp...total $600 US....going all white is expensive
Ответитьhello, where can i purchase the aluminium version of this speaker in the US? aussie here
ОтветитьExcellent as always! Thank you!
ОтветитьMy current system is a Harmon Kardon Citation Amp and some Q Acoustics 2050i’s. Good video mate.
ОтветитьI guess if you love the whole scandi furniture thing or you’re David Duke 🤔
On a more serious note- staying in that mid fi range, what about some system builds that are above the student range, up to 5, 10, 15, 20k 😄
No offence to students as I am one, and I appreciate that budget kit is a deep well for a content creator
Weird coincidence that today I went ahead and upgraded my secondary system to the KEF Q150 and the Bluesound Powernode (though not the Edge, got too good a deal on the powerful one), through some Totem Tress wires, and sitting on IsoAcoustics Apertas. And then noticed this video in my subscriptions. Love it.
ОтветитьDon't get old anymore please.
ОтветитьI'd love to here your opinion on the difference between this set up and the kef lsx ii's as they are both similar in price.
ОтветитьI have you to thank for my current "Future-Fi" setup, KEF LS50 Meta w. Powernode which is also plugged into my TV. Game changing for me personally, it's brought music to the front and centre of my downtime/entertainment. Towards the end you mentioned a subs for around $400-500, any specific suggestions around that price point? Not quite ready to make the jump to a KC62.
ОтветитьHey John, somewhat related to your video since you’re talking about streaming amps, I recently randomly discovered that you can actually stream Apple Music directly from the cloud (so music doesn’t go from iPhone to an airplay2 compatible streamer). How:
Ask Siri to play something on <name> speaker “Hey Siri, play my favorites on the Sonos AMP”. Then, from Now Playing in the control center, tap on “ Control other Speakers & TVs”. You’ll see the airplay2 speaker there, and if you tap on it and open Apple Music, you’ll only see the icon of a speaker, not your iDevice —> Speaker.
I know it works as I put my phone in plane mode and music kept playing. Tested it with a Denon DNP800 streamer as airplay device and iPhone/iPad/homepod as Siri endpoints, maybe from Apple TV it also works but I don’t have one.
I built a similar setup on a fluke a couple years ago, when the current-gen Sonos Amp had just come out — I’ve paired the Sonos Amp with a set of white KEF Q350’s, and HDMI ARC to my Apple TV (which allows me to train my normal tv remote as a replacement to the apple remote). One remote to rule them all, AirPlay 2 streaming Apple Music Lossless sounds gorgeous and I’ve never once had to tinker with the setup. Darko is right, these KEF’s have a lovely sound and deep soundstage. Considering adding a Sonos Sub Mini to upgrade the experience, but I agree that these kinds of setups are the future: easy, robust, wireless, aesthetic and much more experiential than a soundbar.
ОтветитьLike some other commenters on here, I've had this setup but with the Powernode 2i, minus the stands for a few years now and I love it. It was my first foray into hifi systems and since then I expanded to setting up a Roon Server. It's subtle enough that it doesn't ruin the look of the living space. All thanks to this channel.
ОтветитьWon’t buy any KEF products ever! All their products are extremely buggy and very frustrating to work with.
ОтветитьFuture-Fi--the laptop is the receiver.
