Give the video a like to show Ring and all the other smart home companies that we won't put up with this crap.
ОтветитьI agree
ОтветитьShut up your lying I have used ring alarm for months and I haven’t been charged anything
ОтветитьThe ADT Self Setup can be used with no monthly fee (when you buy it out right).
ОтветитьI don't mind the fee I mind the privacy issues!
ОтветитьDo you buy Starbucks coffee? If so, then SHUT UP about $5 a month for a security system....
Ответитьlooks lile Ring Keypab 2 and Alarmo (under Home Assitant) is the way to go
Ответитьits not just fees we have examples of companies actively cutting out systems like homeassistant. I purchased multiple myQ garage openers and built some notifications into home assistant. Then they hired a greedy CTO that blocked HA automations as you know. Now I have to throw away that hardware and start again.
ОтветитьI’m curious to know what do you use for your home alarm system. As in what type of panel or keypad are you using. I’m currently a ring user but I want a touch keypad panel. Something simple to arm and disarm my alarm.
ОтветитьOn the Ring website it explicitly says:
"Standard features such as up-to-24-hour backup battery, remote arming and disarming from the Ring app, security modes, Alexa device compatibility and real-time mobile notifications are available out of the box and free for your Ring Alarm."
So, did they change it?
Bad ring
ОтветитьAmen.
ОтветитьHi Reed, thanks for the info. I was just about ready to pull the trigger and buy a Ring system, however..... I have a question/request for advice on a DIY home security system with a pretty specific set of requirements. I am looking for a DIY self monitored system that integrates with Alexa Home. One rub is that I've moved to S. American where monitoring is not an option. Can you recommend an appropriate system that will allow me to run routines and automation through Alexa, and has available add ons like extra key pads, panic button, exterior siren? Thanks so much. -Cameron
ОтветитьI bought one last month and I don't pay anything per month.
ОтветитьI hate to tell you, that was rings intention from the very beginning getting you the buy the product, then down the line charging you a monthly service fee...
Ответитьyo ill switch to ADT
ОтветитьI'm selling my ring alarm and pairing all sensors to smart things hub
ОтветитьI pay $10/month for the alarm and $6/month for the car cam and I'm still very happy with the service I'm paying for. I'm sure Ring is still one of the cheapest alarm companies out there. Maybe you should go to another company.
ОтветитьInteresting on the Zwave Dongle to repurpose sensors.
ОтветитьEnergy cost are rising effecting all economic activity creating inflation in prices
Ответить3D softwares too😅
ОтветитьThanks for the video Reed as always. You mention you have a V2, do you know if this will also work with a V1 keypad, it appears to use ZWave? I have an oppportunity to buy a Ring 5 piece set second hand for very little money, or am I nuts and should just look for a local or matter option?
ОтветитьStay away from Ring with its monthly fees and privacy violations. Get into local storage
ОтветитьI'm upset with Google not supporting Nest Guard in April 2024 next year. I was thinking of getting a Ring keypad to use with Alarmo. Hopefully I can get one second hand so I dont support Ring in the process. Thank you Reed 🙂
ОтветитьOne word : UNIFI
ОтветитьWelcome to the concept of CLOUD services. I have the keypad and works completely fine with Alarmo. There is a blueprint. I am almost sure the other sensors would pair and work.
I can actually arm it, and if the keypad (or anything else) triggers an alarm, the prompts work, siren works, countdown, even the little pulsing red progress bar works.
I couldn't get it to work with Hubitat, but it works fine in HA.
I really want to know how to reuse my ADT window and door sensors with my SmartThings hub or Alexa Any ideas.?
ОтветитьThere so much more discretionary spending out there you can complain about( streaming services, Starbucks, bud light,,,,), this added cost in safeguarding yourself and families isn’t one of them.
ОтветитьElon Musk said it best. Laptop class live in la ka land.
Paying for $20 or $5 for added security and safeguards what matters to us most is a bargain.
You live in Arizona so you’re center for meth heads problems. Not so much issues like California where home invasions are at record high everywhere. There’s not enough repercussions for misdemeanor and felonies in most states especially CA.
Ring ecosystem with cameras, house alarm, yard lights can seamlessly work together for fraction of a cost versus other commercial options.
I think ring users should not buy any products to get all these features back for free for the subcription to use the Alarm. And why is ring doing this to us?
ОтветитьAlarm monitoring, if you want it, is fine for charging a fee - as is general cloud services like video storage. The vendors have a cost (a significant cost) with maintaining these data center operations. HOWEVER, when it comes to home automation, I try to keep EVERYTHING local that I can. My installation is all z-wave w/ Hubitat. Presently I have a Ring doorbell, which will likely be replaced by one that I can integrate with HomeKit and/or Hubitat and keep video local.
ОтветитьI've taken the "local first" approach and only used cloud based devices when absolutely necessary. I'm really anxious to see what the "YOTV" mission for HA brings. I'm hoping to get rid off (or at least minimize) the Echo devices I have. I got rid of a Ring camera for that reason, and recently switched back to pfsense from a Unifi UDM. It's so much nicer when your devices just work and aren't subject to the whims of some corporate plan.
ОтветитьFrom now on every company’s goal is to figure out a way to turn into a subscription based service.
ОтветитьAny experience using Aqara for home security system? How does it compare to Alarmo / Abode
ОтветитьI just set up my ring security system today! I hope I don’t have to pay the monthly fee. I guess I’ll find out soon.
Ответитьcaptain i love the channels big question i am going to buy the echo dot 4th gen i have
smart switch in my home that control the lights on and off, will the 4th gen echo ultrasound features works with my switch when i walk into the bathroom will the light turn on. please help
So good to see you taking a stand PLUS getting the message out there to others using the platform that you have. Awesome.
ОтветитьYep. That’s Amazon hey.
ОтветитьNeed ur help my wyze live feed won't show up on my fire stick 4k max no more
ОтветитьI can’t understand why people are still using ring. We have known for years that Amazon allows law enforcement unfettered access to your camera recordings. They’re clearly not trustworthy so why continue to deploy ring stuff in your home? This is just icing on the cake. If you’re unhappy with Ring at this point that’s on you.
ОтветитьThis is the first time I’m hearing about this & as a Ring user it’s troubling. I might as well get ADT if they’re going this route 😡
ОтветитьHonestly, Company know they're not making much money on sales that much, that's why they're introducing subscription because they know they will get a monthly payment to them.
ОтветитьWell, yeah, they're technically owned by Amazon, so they want subscription
ОтветитьWow!!! I bought a Ring alarm system a couple months ago that's still in the box. I'm glad I ran across your video. Totally disappointed about this Ring alarm change. But totally happy about your solution. Thanks.
ОтветитьThey’re also doing this in the car industry. Subscription base to unlock features in your car… corporate creed indeed!
ОтветитьSee: Rent Seeking
ОтветитьDose not surprise me as there is a cost to run any cloud app.
ОтветитьThis is what Nest currently doing. 😂😂
ОтветитьI'm keeping my system for free for now but likely they will charge existing customers as they kept the $10 for existing customers for monitoring but eventually they were moved over to the new pricing.
