I said this on Addy video. I think what people want is a balance between slice of life with trauma and Misty having fun and doing new things. As a person who been threw what Misty been threw growing is rough and TYT dose a good job at this and I relate to many of her stories but the show doing a balance may help people enjoy the story without wild takes we have now.
ОтветитьMisty!
ОтветитьMisty is a character who means a lot to me as someone who both has a really bad memory that is semi my fault and a lot of self doubt. I am really glad that there is now a great video explaining Mistys' character growth.
ОтветитьI have complex trauma.
Life is not giving me a break. Each year it gets worse.
Amazing defense video and can't wait for your full Misty retrospective
ОтветитьYeah!!! Calling her poorly written is very disrespectful to real trauma survivors like... me and other people in the world.
ОтветитьThis was very deep misty is one of my favorites keep up the good work
ОтветитьThis was an amazing support video for Misty. She went through a lot of trauma from Opaline, and losing her father when she was little. But look at her now, she is reunited with him, has amazing friends, will soon have a new stepmother, and stepsisters, most likely, and has developed and grown so much as a character. She has become a huge fan favorite, and she is also relatable when it comes to facing fears, and being brave as well. Hoof to Heart, Misty!
Ответитьwhat a great video you understand misty better than what some mlp fans think they do keep up the great work.
ОтветитьI'm not an expert on trauma and I don't pretend to be, but I do know that you don't just move on from it. I also acknowledge that I don't know what it's like to have trauma because it's different for everyone, and they need empathy and support.
ОтветитьThis was one of your BEST VIDEOS EVER!!!!!❤❤❤❤❤❤❤❤❤❤❤❤🤩🤩🤩🤩🤩🤩🤩😁😁😁😁😁🥹🥹🥹🥹🥹🥹👍👍👍👍👍👍👍👍👍👍🎉🎉🎉🎉🎉🎉🎉🍿🍿🍿🍿🍿🍿🍿🍿🍿🥇🥇🥇🥇🥇🎁🎁🎁🎁🎁 you really outdone yourself keep up the good work. I'm speechless 😶 I don't know what to say (in a good way)I feel much better than I had ever before it may take a long time to heal but we'll go one baby hoof at a time hoof to heart.
Ответитьwhat a great video about misty it's great that we g5 fans know how she feels and understand what she went through with her past great work and I can't wait for the next part of your g5 defense series.
ОтветитьThis is exactly what I needed to hear Nightwing.😊 To be honest just like Misty, have always felt like I never fit in anywhere and was gaslighting sometimes into believing I should just be happy. I would purposely isolate myself and had trouble opening up to others in fear of how they would react.😢 I constantly told myself that I couldn’t do anything right, etc. But just like Misty when I applied myself, there are times where I choose to recognize the good aspects of myself and show interest in activities others might not. So yeah I totally relate to you and Misty. It doesn’t get easier , but it is a working progress one day at a time. ❤
Ответитьoh thank you for putting what I was thinking into words... I've never been good at them as I usually ramble about random inconsequential things to any point that I try to make.
I've been under quite a bit of stress lately with me my mum and dad all requiring help in one way or another...
Thank you for being one of those lights in the dark...
I had to deal with abuse all my life up to my early twenties, so I definitely understand that what Misty went through is absolutely NOT the kind of thing anyone "just gets over". Character balance criticisms, I get, but that's separate from the way Misty's personality and development are written, and they are written fantastically.
ОтветитьTo those who gave Misty bad reviews before, you should cut her some slack. Like this video said, overcoming the trauma she had been through is not easy. She is like how Rapunzel was. She spent her life hiding from other ponies because of what Opaline said about them and her. Misty is still new to Equestria in the present after being locked up for some years. In the words of her song Let it Grow, butterflies don’t get their wings overnight, it all takes time.
Ответитьsomething to noteabout mist'y interest in magic, is its kinda shown in little bits even when she was with opaline. when opaline was using potions to perform magic, misty suggested mixing a few. ithink she wanted to always earn magic but opaline always put her down.
ОтветитьLiving in a stressful and insecure environment as a child can repress aggression into the subconscious mind, so that person will always be self-aggressive, and Misty is stuck with self-aggression, which takes a long time to get better.
My childhood was similar to Misty's, so I can understand her very well.
Doesn't this mean next time when the spotlight on sunny and if it's about her identity crisis will people complain? in the lone alicorn she dreams of her friends being alicorns, she dislikes being the last alicorn because no one can relate to her, she gave opaline a chance to change (she was begging her then when opaline got defeated ) and she's desperate to find other alicorns like her and in written in the starscouts she told Zipp "at least you know about your family" even though her parents were loving she barely remembers her mom and dad so she wants to know about her family tree. I don't want fans complaining about sunny and her identity crisis g5 haters DON'T SAY MEAN STUFF ABOUT SUNNY'S IDENTITY CRISIS you would be hurting people who went though an identity crisis.
ОтветитьSo my good friend. How has your summer vacation been going?
ОтветитьIf i had a nickel for every time a shy pony gets blaimed for "learning the same lesson", despite having one of (if not) the most consistent and well written arc in the show, i'd have two nickels. Which isn't a lot, but it's weird that it happened twice.
ОтветитьBeautiful analysis video that was worth the wait. Misty's development throughout this generation is amazing and honestly, very realistic the more you analyze it. And as someone with trauma myself, I know how Misty feels. No matter how much I try to grow past my trauma, part of it has shaped who I am now and will probably never truly go away.
As always, keep up the good work, Haw Knightwing
I feel myself not completely agreeing with your points. Maybe if I watch through all of the episodes you highlighted, either for the first time or again (I've previously watched and stated my interpretations of Swing and a Misty and Emotional Rollercoaster, as well as Misty's previous Season 2 episodes. I've also paused my rewatch of Chapter 5, after Family Trees Part 1, but at least those, they make a good amount of sense of me.), I'll see exactly what you mean and agree as everyone else here does. Or maybe I'll have something else to say or even disagree with you, as I for one don't see eye to eye on Masky is to Misty in Emotional Rollercoaster. Again, I haven't anything to say on the Season 1 post-Opaline Misty episodes, especially the first one, so I can't interject whether I agree or disagree with you, mainly because you used screenshots for some of those moments and not clips, let alone clips with audio like you do with Cutie Blossom Bash.
In that example, I tried to reflect on her actions towards Misty, and tried to see exactly what her words might actually be a manifestation of, rather than assuming it's nothing but unhealthy thoughts trying to push Misty over the edge. I don't want to disagree with you, but when a good amount of her appearances up to the halfway point are just her scaring Misty off to annoy her with the reminder of those thoughts, rather than speaking to Misty directly... hearing what she actually has to say doesn't paint that same picture to me. Not as something completely horrible that is to be diminished, but a part of her that is trying to hold her back out of genuine fear she has, fear that may not be valid, but is something that has to be able to accept and confront, and work on, rather than pushing it to the wayside. I'm not someone with trauma like Misty, but I know those kinds of people or thoughts when I hear them to some extent, and how convincing they are because they do reflect some aspect of yourself that is genuine, even if it they are only using you for their personal gain.
Also, for the love of god... do not fucking say "unalive" in this context. Saying "unalive" in a context of those with suicidal thoughts or tendencies, it just isn't right, at least not to me.
Misty's the real chosen one all along
ОтветитьI like Misty I think she is very pretty and has a nice butt! I like her curly hair and tail too and her cute freckles Misty is so hot I want to kiss her cheek!
ОтветитьGreat defend video man, I’m happy to found a kid defend G5 that actually have clearer sense than those adults blindly hate the show; they are literally blinded by their own anxiety and fear until the point they can’t see any light in front of them. I found most people attack Misty’s character out of denial and jealousy the same method like how people attack Fluttershy and Starlight in the past, Misty is the written right of Fluttershy’s shy characteristic and given the a tragic back-story to sympathises her that fans don’t allow Starlight to have.
ОтветитьWhat Discord are you a part of?
ОтветитьThat was a very nice researched analysis. Hope people could be a little more open to g5 and all things it has to offer. No even explored in g4.
ОтветитьIf I had a penny for everytime I went though something traumatic... oh snap ... over 30 pennys and I'm not not middle age yet😢😢😢😢😔😔😔😒😒😒😑😑😑😮💨😮💨😮💨😮💨😨😨😨😨
ОтветитьOkay this is actually making me want to give g5 a look
ОтветитьThanks for defending Misty with this video 😊
ОтветитьThis is a difficult subject to balance in a children's cartoon. With regards to "learning the same lesson over and over again," I can speak from experience to say that it is often the case in real life. I am just glad they are not scapegoating bad behavior on trauma.
Edit: It just dawned on me that perhaps some people expecting her to change rapidly could be exhibiting a defense mechanism of hoping it cannot happen to them. Maybe a product of environments that demand instant results? Although most of the time I attribute the fan response to ignorance.
Am I only one thinking that misty blossomforth is like Fluttershy or better yet she's the ancestor or descendant of Fluttershy?
ОтветитьTo me she’s realizing her own inner power.
The strength that lies within to overcome what is thrown at her.
Excellent video 👍🏼
Also are you going to do more videos like this? :o
Ty shes way more special than most brony or pega sisters even realize for an accepting Fandom lol 😅 😂 XD some of us are a bit mean judgemental and egotistical logic jerks to even be accepting of a newer gen animator character 😄 😂 😅 she reminds me of early Non Alicorn Twilight 😊 ♧♡♧☆ yay for Misty ♡ ♧ ☆ ○ ♧
ОтветитьI'm a real life Misty lol 😅 😂 XD
ОтветитьHawk Nightwing. I love your videos. I am glad to be a defender like you. Thank you.
ОтветитьHello Hawk Nightwing! Had to change channels. Sorry. But I am back and Ready to defend 5G no matter what!
Hoof to heart my stallion!
Misty is my favorite G5 character, and you did an excellent job at showing just how complex a character she really is! Basically all Misty-centered episodes are among my favorite episodes of MYM and TYT. My favorite G5 song is even "Up", which is centered entirely on Misty! I really don't understand why anyone could think that she's "mopey" or even "stagnant", and you explained perfectly why she's neither of those things! Thank you for your analysis, Hawk Nightwing. I always look forward to watching your videos!
ОтветитьI hope People criticize any more ponys like Sunny's ongoing identity crisis and Izzy masking her sadness and the sad thing is People often out on a mask to make people happy or questioning their identity.
ОтветитьNo pony criticize Sunny and Izzy they also went through trauma I'm keeping an eye on you inconsistent ponys who think one episode they get over their trauma.
ОтветитьSo, giving this video a watch (I normally just take Addy's word on TYT these days since she's still watching it while I gave up most of the way into season 1 as so many episodes at that point just felt like senseless noise), I have to admit that a lot of what you say about Misty's symptoms in chapter 1 of your video essay seems to touch pretty personally regarding some of my own insecurities, withdrawal from others and perfectionistic tendencies. Granted, I don't have Misty's trauma so much as just a lifetime of not belonging, but a lot of it just clicks.
ОтветитьI love Misty and also identify with her as I came from an emotionally abusive environment from as young as I can remember to only escaping it around ages 17-18. I'm still growing, I'm still finding out who I am. Time is both our greatest enemy and best friend. I'm so glad to have friends that encourage me to grow and have me be the best version I can be- even if it takes me a few months to finally be brave enough to make a tiny change that feels HUGE to me. Thank you for this defending Misty video <3 bc it's perfect
ОтветитьWait...Hawk you been bulled? That's abuse too that's call verbal abuse I know this because it's the main one I experienced in my past. I'm here for you hoof to heart.
ОтветитьMisty grew up the way I did. So I can understand her quite well. And this kind of self loathing is hard, super hard to just 'get over'. that's not how that works. I still struggle to do it! to catch those thoughts before they can spiral out of control. I'll get there. eventually. and a few years ago i couldn't even think that. so yeah, be kind to yourself just like you are kind to others.
ОтветитьAmazing video!
ОтветитьHey there, everypony. It has been brought to my attention that there are a few times in the video where the audio short circuits occasionally and for that, I sincerely apologize. I thought Cleanvoice would be perfect at cleaning up my audio in post, but it turns out that it’s not, and it made a couple of mistakes. Pay no attention to those. I got the subtitles up, and I hope they help with showing everything I said. Sorry in advance for the oopsie, but I hope the rest of the video is fine. I’ll definitely be paying more attention to this from here on out. :)
