You know your stuff!!!
I wonder if you can help me find a VST that can be used without a DAW. I moved from PCs to standalone mulritrack recorder, however i use my PC to play virtual instrument and record them in my Tascam Model 12.
I have a few standalone instrumens like
"Velvet Air" that i have a shortcut on my desktop. I just click the shortcut and press record on my Tascam Model 12 and go.
I'm looking for a virtual drums like this that i can play with a midi controller and record its content on a stereo track of my tascam model12.
Which drums VST comes this way as a standalone virtual drum playable with a midi controller.
All lovely and great work, but what normal person can play a drum kit, on a keyboard, like this? Very few
ОтветитьMan, you're an incredible keyboard drummer!
ОтветитьI am a huuuuge fan of SD. Have about 2TB of library's .😊 Anyway , your ambidextrosity with hands is on next level.🤙 Tnx for posting this cool content. ✌️
ОтветитьHave used SD1 and 2 but more often than not ended up using EZD 2 and 3 more than anything particularly for building the necessary MIDI files. Once thats done, i've also been known to use the NI Abbey Road series, especially 60s and 80s.
ОтветитьThank you for this video. Really informative!! Helped a lot!
ОтветитьWhen I saw your face I knew this is gonna be good!
Ответитьwich one do you recomend to play in live with a band,we dont have a drum player in the band and we want to use a daw,but we want the most realistic posible
ОтветитьExcellent overview. Missing the best (IMO), Mixosaurus, but I understand why. The tone may not suit everyone, nor the lack of a plethora of "rooms", but the articulations are without peer, IMO. I would happily pay the asking price of these (SD3 etc,) for a decent HiHat alone.
ОтветитьI have used Addictive Drums 2 before i got EZdrummer 3 and the latter is so much better, the drums sound real and also much less work required to get the drums sounding good in your mix, none of the presets of Addictive Drums 2 sound as real but yes there are so many presets though which may make it more versatile but i would definetly pick EZdrummer 3 and there are expansions available if you need drums for other genres than what’s included. Superior Drummer is awesome but also takes up a lot of space and that’s why i went with the lighter EZdrummer
ОтветитьGreat finger drumming brother, wow . 😮 Peace
ОтветитьIt's called a Plugin Not A Library
ОтветитьBFD3 is stil one of my favourites and de ride/ cymbals paiste 602 from EZdrummer 3 are stunning!
ОтветитьSD3 e drum user here. If you want to turn off aftertouch for cymbals its easy to do in SD3. Just click on the cymbal so its highlighted then in the boxes to the right turn off after touch in the choke trigger box
ОтветитьML Drums
ОтветитьHow much latency when u have when u play midi ? Its not immediate like the acoustic drums, dont u notice it when u record it ?
ОтветитьYour keyboard drumming technique is absolutely outstanding, as is this entire video along with your great commentary! What keyboard controller are you using? I have BFD drums and I'm absolutely furious that their new owners. In Music refuse to acknowledged my emails about them not recognising my Fxpansion serial numbers! Keep up the great work!
ОтветитьSimon Phillips...the greatest Judas Priest drummer that was never in the band!
ОтветитьI got to give it to the addictive series software stuff by XLN audio I believe. I don't have their drums yet, but I have several of their keys and my take away from those was that they do a whole lot with a whole little. They aren't the most detailed samples but that also means the libraries are lightweight too. They also don't tax my cpu very hard. I have some other piano libraries, for instance waves grand rhapsody which is a very detailed library of one specific piano, and it sounds like your in the room with a 1/4 million dollar piano, but at the cost of it taking 5 minutes to load each instance and heavily taxing my ram and cpu. I probably wouldn't want to run more than 1 at a time, which means bouncing the track down before loading another instance. It can kick me out of creative mode real quick. Having said that, sometimes a super realistic detailed sample library is what you want and what will pull out your creativity. So I appreciate both perspectives but XLN does sound very good for lightweight vst libraries.
ОтветитьWhat is the order of pluggins numbers
ОтветитьThanks! Great review! I've been a recording engineer since 1972 recording real drummers and drums and just now getting into samples doing my one man band thing in retirement. There's a million different sounds to get from a single drum set and drummer. I can see how one could get lost in there options.
ОтветитьI've been using SD2 for awhile now. I was impressed by the SSD CLA and Studio Drummer session kits.
ОтветитьHow do I get a tighter snare that's not so heavy? And deeper kick
Ответитьguys does anyone know how to add libraries to SSD?
and I have problem with studio drummer (I can't add it to my kontakt 7) tell me if you know how to fix it
what's fkin pissing me off with all your comparison videos is that you never set which one you play when on timeline... that's awful when you need to search through comparison video... Man change that! every other's are doing that
ОтветитьHmmm, when it comes to drums, nothing beats sampling from vinyl. These vst’s all sound like metal drum kits. Also, when you sample from obscure sources, chances are your sound will not be heard anywhere else.
Ответитьplz were can i get this
Ответитьhow can purchase 80's pack?
ОтветитьEZ Drummer??
ОтветитьSUPERIOR DRUMMER THE BEST...I USE WITH MY ROLAND TD27 AND CUBASE!!!
ОтветитьDom is a damn legend. I only came across his channel when I got into music as a hobby and I decided to go with Cubase as my DAW. Damn I learn so much from his content. Thanks Dom!
ОтветитьLuv it
ОтветитьEZDrummer 3 is missing here. For all those who don’t know how to finger drum on God tier mode like Dom, that’s #1 recommendation especially for the composing part of it. And with the available expansions (Modern Metal, Gospel, Pop Punk, Death Metal are great e.g.) EZD3 is the pinnacle of composing comfort (SD3 is too much for me).
Modo Drum is worth mentioning as well. With ModoBass 2 being one of the best acoustic bass instruments out there, together they are a killer combo on their own. (with 148,- ext. Vat. for the bundle, that’s clearly a no-brainer).
BFD3 sounds great as well but totally sucks in terms of UI/UX and even sometimes causes DAW-crashes (just a milk cow with no support, service or further dev.). So unfortunately unusable for my taste. Today we can expect excellent GUIs and workflows for our money, so no need to suffer such BFD3-pain-in-the-ass ;)
And on the hard side of the spectrum some of the most killer libraries are Drumforge Matt Greiner, GetGoodDrums Invasion and the Kurt Ballou Signature Series Drums (1+2).
And stuff like Damage 2 or Damage Drum Kit by Heavyocity are worth mentioning too although they are rather settled in the hybrid orchestral and cinematic field. And I personally like to combine drum sets with percussion stuff like FlyingHands or the Klevgrand percussion bundle. Coming from the electronic side I like to combine drum sets anyway with tools like Trias, Atlas2, Beat Scholar etc. but that's a totally different turf … ;)
Forgot to mention: Thanks for your mind-blowing work, Dom. Your channel has Hall of Fame status in terms of music-YT! Simply awesome!
You're forgot to include Getgood Drums.
ОтветитьTrying to like the GA drums (BFD user), but missing my snare drag on the D#1 .. are the samples there in the add-on kits ? (nothing there in "The Kit SE" that i can tell... I find the whole GA interface a bit confusing ( I use it all the time for assigning simple Linn samples to pads, but as soon as you get into a full expansion kit it seems your hands are tied.. i can't even see where the source samples are!).
Regardless, just bought your modern 80's .. BEST FIFTEEN QUID EVER SPENT!!!.. it's cheaper than a double Jack and Coke at a festival!.. SOUNDS GREAT!... so layering these sounds in with my live kits. lol ..
I can not believe you did not include AIR Music Tech Strike!
ОтветитьThank you👑
ОтветитьNew sub here love the way play the drum on the keyboard can you teach us please?
ОтветитьThe NI Abbey Roads brushes in particular is a breath of fresh air. Thanks
ОтветитьMT Power drum kit 2 is free and it's good 👍🏻
Ответитьthis dudes better on the keyboard than most people are at the actual kit

Hello! Thanks for the video 👍. I need healp with vsti drums
ОтветитьSuperior Drummer 03 and BFD Drums!!!! I´m a drummer, and play all the sounds using a Roland VDrum kit. I liked some of the kits you reviewed. Maybe I´ll add a few.
ОтветитьI've got a few of these plugins but at the moment my favourite is MODO Drums.
