I've seen a much crappier design once and thought it would be a pretty handy thing to have, but after seeing the piece of art you use...I'm incentivized a lot more.

One thought about the catamaran - It seems tippy in one direction. What if you separated the two float bags and put each one on an out rigger on each side in order to make it more stable both directions.

If you have access to scrap screen of the thicknes wire needed, it is a perfect malable wire to use.

When the wood gets wet it swells thus making the connection tighter.
