The reason the seller asked if he was legal ,was the seller had to do a background check on the buyer and I'd he wasn't legal everyone would have wasted their time. In America it’s EXTRAORDINARILY hard to get a gun as a law abiding citizen. Here in MA: safety course, $200 in fees, apply and wait 5-6months for a license, go to the store, pass a background check (5-10 days) then buy the gun.

I am from Russia, and I am drooling at the sight of how easy it is to buy a gun in America illegally. People here go to great lengths to obtain firearms from black market. Many sell their cars, their houses or apartments just to be able to afford a couple of guns. Even the shittiest pistols cost at least about 2-3 thousand dollars apiece. You know that meme "Russian reversal"? I've come up with this one "In America, you buy guns to rob banks. In (Soviet) Russia, you have to rob a bank to buy a gun". Sad but true. And don't even get me started on how many people get provoked into buying guns by the police and FSB, and then end up mining coal somewhere in Siberia with a sentence of 5-12 years. Even most hardened felons rarely have actual firearms in their possession, they mostly use rubber guns.
